I am going through my third driveshaft on my '99 D2. I have Rovertym Springs on the front, and SLS Spacers on the back. My mechanic claims the lift must be causing this, but I seriously doubt it. Does anyone else know what could cause this? If i jolt left or right, I hear a pop noise. Is this part of it? Its getting expensive! Any help is appreciated!

Are you getting new driveshafts? Rebuilds? What exactly is going bad on the driveshafts. More info please.

Thanks for the response. I bought a Great Basin Rovers unit the first time around. This piece was supposed to have a serviceable U-Joint, where I believe the problem occurs..not sure though. The second time around I purchased a new drive shaft. I'm not sure what the rotoflex is, but I can check it out.

ok yes, is it a dc shaft? does it have 2 u-joints on one side near the t-case end?

If it's a GBR shaft then it probably does have serviceable u-joints, did you service them?

Not sure what a dc shaft is. I will check. I think there is only 1 u joint on the t-case end. I did service the u joints after going under water. The driveshafts are going after only 7K or so. The vibrations and what not occur after very little mileage. Sorry I know so little!

this could be why. confirm you have single u-joints on both sides. If so, your shaft could be to short which puts strain on your joints which causes them to wear quick. You need a DC or longer driveshaft. GB can get you one. ALthough, if you have a GB already then I bet it's a DC one.....

ok....how about this

you are running a single cardin shaft where you really need a double cardin shaft and thats why its going bad so fast?

or you installed it backwards and the double cardin CV joint is at the qwrong end...once again that causes them to go bad really fast?

or you installed the shaft with the new joints and failed to grease it and they are dying because the assembly grease is really only to hold it all togather until its installed then it needs real grease?

either way you have a problem so maybe start at the start of this adventure and explain all the steps you have done.
