I have had the engine out of my 96 D1 for a while. I now have the replacement engine in place. Just a few odds and ends to wrap up.

I can’t recall the correct location to connect the ground wire coming from the engine bay fuse box and my other D1s are not here now. My ROM with wiring diagrams is also far away.

Can anyone tell me the correct location to connect the ground wire coming from the engine bay fuse box?

Im not 100% certain but Possibly to the front top of the fender well behind the battery. The battery neg cable is bolted there with a P clip and the fuse box ground is on the same bolt.

Yup right in the middle of the angle of the fender, dropping straight down to the frame to final terminate. Location is by lower Oil cooler hose/rad output.

there isn’t anything that gets grounded from the fuse box. Its just fuses, no relays

Thanks, I was thinking that may be the case. Also, I was wondering why I would have removed it to pull the engine. But, I bought it with a bad engine and disassembly had begun before it became my project, in some cases oddly.

I assume that second wire connects to the engine assembly?

So, new question. There are 2 larger wires that exit the bottom of engine bay fuse panel. where do they connect?

Ok, so I think we can send this to the “stupid post section” should one ever be created.

I went back out to the garage to continue completing the odds and ends of engine install. I’d been holding off on installing the alternator as I was debating on buying a new one. I decided the new alternator could wait and installed one of my used ones. Bingo! It became obvious that second wire from the engine fuse box goes to the alternator. I had in my head the wire that goes to the large lug on the alternator was in the engine harness...

So glad I didn’t ground it!! Sometimes I am a knucklehead. Thank you to all that chimed in on my obvious confusion.
