What is the approximate cost of an engine swap from a 4.0 to a 4.6 for a 2000 D2. Assuming that a parts car is available so nothing would need top be bought. Are there any compentant shops in NJ that could do this?

After talking to some people I would say get a 99-2000 block and build it into a 4.6.
Later then that and things seemed to go downhill for short blocks.
I thought zombies got you.

Do it yourself. You don't need a parts car, just the engine.

+1

After the original 4.0 in my DII died I swapped it out for another 4.0. Before anyone calls me a retard, Marty gave me a great deal on the 4.0 that was too good to pass up. the whole job cost me less than $1400.

There are some other things that I want from a parts car, and ther are a few salvaged D2's being auctioned off. I also need a TC, Trans and passenger door.
I was able to fight off the zombies but life and other hobbies got in the way of dealing with a disgruntle rover sitting in my parents garage. It needs major tlc to bring it back to life.

No, it's still only 4 litres of displacement; but the rest your your probably right about.
You increase the stroke making it 4.6 liters.
