Exhaust condensate leak

Hey all, I have enough corrosion of the mating faces between my exhaust Y pipe, and muffler that on cold starts I get some sooty water leaking out, staining my driveway. I tried making a gasket out if a soft aluminum sheet, but that didn't help much. Thinking about going to a high temp fiber gasket material. Any other ideas?

What's a v-band clamp? The joint I'm referring to has a flat flange on the muffler side, a rounded-over tube on the y-pipe side, and an oval-shaped free-floating flange on the y-pipe side which secures the two together. Are you referring to that piece?

That sounds like the stock fitting. I switched to a v band clamp welded on by a muffler shop because I could never get a good seal anymore from the stock setup.

Googled it... Yes, that would provide a much better seal. Hoping to not have to do major surgery just to fix a minor, and cosmetic leak. I'll put that on the maybe-list for the next time I've got the whole thing out for re-welding of some vibration-cracked part.
