I have some extended brake lines I would like to install.

Does anyone know if a good source of information?

Does anyone have any advice that might make this first time job for me easier?

Thanks,

Brian

finally finished this up last weekend. on the rears, make sure and unbolt the top connecters first and bolt back up the bottom connecters first on the new lines, as the nut on the axle end of the lines does not spin and you will just twist up the lines (hehe, oops). (edited)

remove the rear spiral protectors and put those, as well as the the one's on the front, on the front lines, like so: http://www.expeditionexchange.com/hoshos/hose2.jpg (http://www.expeditionexchange.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=82)
rear shouldn't rub too much, so don't need as much protection - imho.

fronts were cake. hard part is getting the little clips off. some creativeness with needle nose pliers to get them off and on is all it took.

wrenches used i think were 11mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 17mm (i believe off the top of my head, would have 11mm - 17mm onhand).

Cool. Thanks.

Did you just follow standard bleeding instructions to remove the air in the new lines?

actually used a Motive Power Bleeder. started at back right, then back left, then front right, then front left.

Coolio, thats what I'm ready to do.

Did you do anything special before just removing the lines and being prepared to catch the fluid?

Sorry for the silly questions. At least I have good access right now to the rear lines, I have the control arms off.

Thanks for the reply.

nope, just let it run down my arms and tried to get it into a container and on the cardboard i was laying on. i made quite a mess. pair of latex gloves made it a little less messy on myself at least.

good luck!

Well the front were about 15 min each. On the rear I have one of the lines stuck on the axel bracket, passenger side.

:-(

I guess I'll try some PB overnight.

Shoot after the front two, I thought I had it made.

There is always something.

Thanks, other then a stuck connector, would have been a piece of cake.

Well, this is about an hour job (apart from stuck connectors) and pretty easy other than getting brake fluid all over yourself.

To get the clips off the front and back on easy grab wil small pliers on the lip of the clip and tap with a hammer. Piece of cake.
