Seems pretty damn compelling. 4-wheel drive, 300 mile range, fast charging, 120/220v source, priced reasonably. I don't see a published weight number, which worries me for sand/mud/snow, and I'm not a fan of all those damn tablet consoles... But still pretty compelling. What do you guys think?

it seems like a big leap forward. The Fronk is awesome and i can say that as a father of two boys in colorado, this platform is far more appealing than a tesla for hauling kids and gear.

As for the tablet, i really wish manufactures would just admit that they are not going to last as long as the car and come up with a common connection so that third party companies could make them later on

Looks great. I'm still waiting on Rivian.. I love the SUV version. Not that I could afford any on these anyway.

That is sensible indeed... And, finally, manufacturers started to realize that electric power could go in both directions.

Will we see a situation where people charge up for free at public charging stations and then use their cars as a supplemental power source for their homes? I wouldn't be surprised if this was already happening at a small scale. Then again, if you want to be serious about it, in some places you can sell surplus solar power from your home to the utility.

“Sell” is a relative term. My understanding is you are selling your surplus power for account credits. Those are basically no different than Imperial credits.

I really like the R1S too, but a couple of big drawbacks:
1. Under-sized spare tire: https://rivian.com/support/article/where-is-the-optional-spare-tire-located
2. New company. Probably will be delayed, probably hard to support long-term. Ford is almost best case on long-term support IMO.

I also REALLY like the Bollinger, but for $120k and just 200 mile range, it doesn't compete well.

The tire thing is lame, but almost every car and truck sold has space savers now. Getting an aftermarket tire carrier with a full-size spare on it is part of the game.

100% right on support. I imagine most of these small startups (save for Tesla, probably) will fade away once all the big guys go electric. Or maybe they’ll stick around as coach builders with the big manufacturers slinging a skateboard chassis.

Motortrend says the Lightning comes with a full-size spare:

Probably wouldn't fit off-roading tires, but at least it's not a micro-doughnut.

The tablet sucks imho yet feel sure will appeal to the market they are trying to reach.
In my neck of the woods diesel engines rule as common fuel supply source for the tractors and any other farm implements from the same large diesel fuel storage tank.

This guy is using the handy dandy interior work surface to calculate his remaining bank balance after making his first payment on his electric F150.

Whenever I see this all I can think about is the solenoid that can fail in a RRC locking up the shift lever. At least there is a work around. In this case the shift lever is now buried under a cover and you’re totally screwed.

That's illegal. But it happens around here too. The fuel or use taxes are different between the two fuel sources.
