Man, I gotta get more beach time in. And get some 18s. The all silver looks so much better broken up with dark wheels.

One of my favorite things about the LR4 is how it looks. My first one was white, and when looking for a replacement I found a super nice black one. Black just kind of made the design features all blend together. Silver wasn't my first choice, but it's grown on me. I slept on a white one and the only other one I could find with low miles and a HD package was silver.

Mine is black and its a bit too precious and gangsta for my taste. If I decide to stick with the platform, I'll find a lower mileage 2013 in grey or white.

I took a trip to the other side of FL and found more sand trails for the LR4 to play in. It's really great at soaking up highway miles and going wherever you want to go. I think it's a long term keeper.

It'll probably need chains before 100K even being a 13. It doesn't rattle as much as some other 5.0s I've heard, but it's not as quiet as I'd like. It's not cheap to do all that myself, and a broken injector would mean a lot more work than I'd want to do. Still, even paying someone is way cheaper than a new 6 cyl Defender, which is probably the closest thing to a V8 LR4. When all the hybrid drive/forced induction bits fail those will be even worse. I looked at Wrangler 392s, but 80-85K for a piece of plastic with a V8 is tough to justify. A TRX is the same price but won't fit in my office garage, and my Super Duty handles truck duty just fine.

Just FYI, there was a '12 here for sale with just over 100k, and a receipt for the chains, tensioners and jets just being done...

Very cool. Wonderful stretch of the Gulf. If you head back to that area Apalachicola National Forest and Tate’s He’ll State Forest just north has a ton of trails (if you’re fine with plenty of mud and water crossings)

Good to know. I have spent a lot of time in the forests around Ocala / Osceola. There's a ton of sand, water, and mud in there too.

I threw some more aggressive tires on my DII and took it up in the N Georgia mountains this weekend. I have not driven this thing offroad in over two years, but I was reminded how good these things are.

It is also funny how light it feels compared to the LR4. The LR4 reminds me of comparing a SRT Charger I had to my older Mustang GT. The LR4 feels heavier, yet it inspires more confidence because it has more grip and rolls less than the DII. the LR4 is obviously much more powerful. Even so, at lower speeds the DII feels more tossable. Its 4.6 is also no slouch.

I scouted a beach I had not been to in a while. Not to jinx myself, but the more I drive the LR4 the more respect I have for these trucks as a Discovery successor. Tons of power, smooth but grippy, and really just a Swiss army knife of a vehicle.

I have noticed 2018+ SC L405s coming down in price, which are tempting. This truck definitely has way more cool factor going for it though. I just wish LR had not given it two frames. Every once in a while you can really feel its weight.
