I like the leopard. Don't get that the op had a $50 budget and painted his headliner when a few bucks more, he could have had real headliner material.

I'm with ya. I've been thinking about painting one myself. I've never tried to lay out the fabric and get it glued onto the headliner without it looking like ass.

I pulled mine a few years ago because it was dropping. Given the use of the truck putting new headliner material in was a waste of resources even if I tried to do it myself (I would have messed it up undoubtably). So I did it in black bedliner and was going to paint it tan till the wife decreed that the black looked good (or at least good enough).

jesus, calm down. its the headliner in a 20 year old beat up trail truck. its not YOUR headliner and its not a car show (if it were, i'd obviously be in the top 3 anyway).

anyway, what about <$50 budget didnt you get? i did this for under $18. the headliner fabric is no longer flapping in my face while i drive. it gave me something to do on a lazy sunday. AND last but not least, i gave you all something to complain about on the interwebs...i win.

i was actually considering having a guy up the way do it in canvas with molle straps all over. figured it'd be too tacticool to share and would break dweb.

In my RRC I ripped out the sagging stuff and painted it with fabric paint. I could scrub it with a brush when it got mud on it. In MyDII I would have it redone properly as I use it for more than a trail truck.

I need to do something. I'm probably gonna take it out and have a trim shop apply the right fabric. I think I was getting them done for $200 when he did the whole job. I suspect some of those trim guys can do it with the headliner in the car with some piller trim out.

I don't get it. Real headliner material is $80.

There's upholstery, and then there's stripping down and upholstering one of these and keeping it intact on the way back in.

It's a pain in the ass. Most upholstery shops butcher the job, and most private owners butcher the job. I'll be painting mine or something when I'm done with the new console up there. There are many options. I've saved every picture that I've seen posted here and noted what was done, just in case I decide to try a particular method.

These would have been better at two-piece units. That's the way I would have done it.

One of the problems is you have to install it at the same location it's been repaired. It's too big to go hauling around elsewhere unless you've got a large van. Trailers and pickups are a no-go, even if you cover it.

As for this thread, I think the camo is ugly, but I'm not driving it, and it's not a performance, safety, or exterior aesthetic issue. That being the case, it's just a matter of fucking around on the weekend and doing something fun. Ugly, but fun.

Cheers,

Kennith
