As many of you have experienced, i was dealing with orange eyebrows each time i exited the rover.

I finally decided sunday to pull it out and address it.
My original plan was to re-upholster but finding inexpensive material in the width needed was difficult. My budget was under $50.
Pulling it out was relatively simple-taking my time to avoid damaging any of the 20 year old clips, brackets and connectors in the truck.

Once out i pulled the fabric off and used a stiff nylon bristle brush to remove the remaining backing leaving me with the multi-layered fiberglass shell.

My plan was to go simply black using plasti-dip (i had 4 cans on hand already). the shell was absorbing it quicker than i'd anticipated but the result was acceptable.

It was, however, boring and needed something (though almost looked like black suede and i should've left well enough alone). I found some addl cans of 'Camo' krylon in the basement and went to town. here is the results of my 3.5 hr project.

i fot 4 cans of gun metal grey plasti-dip ready to go. i read another thread that a guy primered it first. i think that's the way to go, then it won't suck up the paint so fast. cant wait to do it, but not looking forward to taking down all that trim! ugh!. anyone else with painted headliner experience should share their experiences here.....can't wait to read em!

I've got a few cans of beige/tan Rustoleum spray on bedliner for mine. The Rustoleum isn't all stupid gritty like most bedliners, its pretty smooth.
