I recently acquired a 94 Disco that I plan on flipping. I may even list on BaT. It has 135k miles and has lived most its life in AZ. I am going to obviously clean up some minor issues but I have questions about whats worth it and whats not. The only mods are a 2 inch lift with OME shock, and new BFG ATs

So I thought I would list somethings I questions

Wheels,
It has the standard wheels that originally came on 5speed trucks. Should I try and find a 5th one for the spare or just use a wheel cover.

Surface rust
There is some small amount of rust from when it spent some time in CT. It is absolutely surface and this truck does not even have the C piller rust. Should i paint it with rust conversion and show before/after pics so that i dont seem to hide anything or just keep it the way it is

Rear Ladder
I have a rear ladder but no rack. Does adding that add value?

Cargo window gaskets.
They are all cracked but not nearly as bad as my truck. I know the gaskets can be expensive and time consuming but it would definitely make the truck a bit nicer

Driver Seat
The truck has cloth seats and the driver seat isnt worn but it it is not as fresh as new. Should I get that re-stuffed or just a good cleaning.

Floor Mats
For all intense purposes, lets just assume it has no floor mats. I could buy OEM rubber mats from AB, I could leave it without mats or I could have some beige carpet ones made.

Decals
I am definitely going to refresh the hood decal, but I also thought it would be cool to get a Best 4X4X4Far decal for the window.

Wheels,
Buy a matching wheel. Put fresh tires on the others. Leave it to the owner to decide. Keep it original with the spare steel wheel.

Surface rust
Take pictures, do it if you want to.

Rear Ladder
Include the ladder with the sale. Leave it to the owner.

Cargo window gaskets.
Replace the gasket

Driver Seat
Fix the cushion

Floor Mats
Put OEM in it. (Also it’s intents and purposes for future usage)

Decals
Hood blackout? I’d get a paint match hood rather than a decal. Just my 2 cents. Do not put decals in windows. Keep it original.

I'll only comment on the surface rust. Pay someone to do it or leave it alone. By paying someone you give the feeling it's been done right. If I see you've repaired rust, unless you can show you do this for a living, I'm going to think you've tried to hide it. Then I'm going to wonder what else you are hiding.

You can’t ask us all these questions and not even share any photos of it

Fair point

Sorry these are the best I got right now. I bought this in the middle of head gasket job on my truck so, this one is patiently waiting

That truck looks great.

Keep the 4 castor alloys and steel spare, if you can find a good original plastic cover for the spare steel wheel then slap it on, otherwise just leave it as is.

Renew the cargo window gasket if it's cracked badly.

Where is the surface rust? Underneath on the frame? My old 2004 D2 spent a couple years in CT and had some very minor surface rust mostly on the rear frame area. I wire-brushed it, wiped it down, and rattle-canned it with flat black. There's nothing dishonest in doing the same to yours if it's just some light surface rust. Take before photos for the record.

I'd just clean the cloth interior, unless the driver's seat has your ass dragging on the seat frame.

Add some OEM rubber floor mats. Probably won't profit off them but will help it sell.

Ladder with no rack is pointless, but then again the ladder with a rack is pointless too. It wouldn't make any difference to me but it might add value in someone's plus & minus column if they're considering buying this truck. What's a used ladder worth...about $50?

Refresh the hood decal, don't add anything else.

If this is all you have to do then you're doing well.

I actually have a plastic cover. On the wheel caps, can those be painted?

All three window gaskets need to be replaced, but frankly mine is way worse. How hard are these to do?

the rust is on some frame bits and on the steering arm. Its really just surface.

I am going to definitely get the whole thing shampooed by a friend who does Mobil detailing

I may just wait and see if I can get some used mats. Its going to be a couple months

Id kinda like the ladder for my truck.

Hood decal would give it a fresh look. I just thought the others would be fun

The previous owner sold the truck and moved back to the UK. I was on the fence about removing it.

Other than what I listed, It needs: driver headlight, fixed master cylinder leak, dash repair kit (i found on amazon), fixed door latch on passenger, repaired driver door pocket, dash glued down above radio.

Oh, it has Hellas on the bull bar that are not wired up. I may just remove them.

Sure, just match the silver and paint the center caps. Scuff them up a bit with a scotch-brite pad and clean them well. Or for a few bucks each just buy new.

I would have a glass company replace the rear gaskets. I was going to do my '96 D1 but decided against it after reading about it. It's probably simple for people with experience but I would have lost my patience. Then I crashed the D1 and it was a moot point. On the hood decal, are you talking about the LAND ROVER letters, or a hood blackout decal? Your list of things-to-do isn't bad. Unfortunately the dash lifting issue will let the whole truck down a bit. The driver just sits there and stares at it. Like having a shitty steering wheel. Clean up the rust on your own, just document it. If you can provide photos showing literally no rust and no rot, then you're miles ahead.

Replacing the gaskets isn't that bad, just make sure you use genuine LR parts otherwise they crack about a week after you put the new ones in.
