Engine lost oil pressure on Christmas Eve, 2018; has been sitting in garage since. Local independent LR mechanic suspects oil pump failure. Also suspects engine damage due to pressure failure and recommends lower engine (block, pistons, crankshaft, etc.) replacement. Cylinder heads, valves, lifters, etc. were repaired in 2017. I am not capable of doing the work myself and can’t afford someone else doing the work. Sad day, but time to let it go.
So, here it is: Vienna Green exterior with Alpaca Beige Leather interior; approximately 112,600 miles; transmission and high-low transfer case work well (yes, it has the locking center differential); body and frame in good shape; rear tires have about 3,000 miles, front tires about 27,000; still riding on original shocks; replaced front windscreen; some minor issues such as left rear door does not lock-unlock automatically, driver’s window needs new rollers in lower track, driver’s seat moves forward-reverse but with some vibration.
As much as we like this vehicle (and the 1996 D1 we had before), we cannot justify any more major expense on a vehicle we do not need and do not use to its full capabilities. I’ve been a member of DiscoWeb since late 90’s and have always enjoyed the on-line camaraderie and assistance with issues on our vehicles. So, I’d like to first offer this one to someone on this forum who might like to dive into the repairs or who can use it to build-up your own trail vehicle. Asking $3,000, but negotiable. No, I am not interested in parting-out. You must arrange pick-up and/or delivery. Located in the Kansas City (USA) area. I also have miscellaneous parts for both the D2 and the D1. Please contact me via email.
