freelander 1.8 swb tailgate problem

Hi new to this forum hope somebody can give advice please.
2003 commercial freelander.
started with clicking noise somewhere rear of car either back quarter or tailgate this is intermittent and goes when brake pedal depressed.(only when lights are on )
The rear tailgate glass will not stay down when u try to open rear door it drops for a sec and then goes up again not leaving enough time to open or close door properly. :banghead:
Not sure if this is two separate probs or one has any body had similar probs if so any advice appreciated

Unfamiliar with a "commercial" freelander....is it a Se3 type design? or something different?

Hi se3 i looked on net i presume this is model available in the states it certainly looks identical cant be of any more help than that though

Latest update stripped off panel to investigate,tracked noise to electrical module connected to rear door handle checked wiring to this no loose connections must be something inside shorting out or faulty.There seems to be a lot of people on different sites experienced same problem no one seems to have an answer as to easy resolve though seems im quite lucky compared to some of the horror stories i have read re these vehicles :TIME TO SELL I THINK:

Some of the SE3's also had an issue with the sensors for the removable hard top if I remember correctly. Something about the top not seating correctly so the rear window won't stay up, pretty simple fix if I remember corectly.
