This is my truck. It was in California it's whole life until I bought it and shipped it to Brooklyn, around last April/May. Drove it around locally for the summer, had planned to restore completely over time. Put around 800 miles on it during entire time I've owned it. Too nice to wheel, just ran errands in it and enjoyed doing just that. It is now in storage in Long Island ( driven once a week or so) and has never seen snow nor salt, barely even rained on, (really). I have complete records all the way back to first owner, who had it the majority of its life. It's a solid disco, no, not perfect, but I think, a really nice example, I don't think outrageously priced, but the market will tell me. New battery and oil change just done.

I think the mileage and electronic issues are what’s keeping people away, I know I have been in the market and made offered on trucks but 7k is a hard pill to swallow for a 170k mile truck with issues

The more I look for these vehicles the more I realize how hard they are to find with no rust and not beat to shit or neglected. Do a quick look on CL and there isn't more than 2 nationwide I would throw money at.

We're talking original paint which this has and that's insane how good it looks. Inside isn't burned to a crisp either nor is the dash warped to hell. That in itself is also rare.

As a reference, I had 210k on my 99 D1 when I sold it. The current owner has 240k on it and redid the heads himself shortly after buying it and it's his DD. They're remarkably simple and rugged vehicles. I wouldn't shy away from a 170k truck, especially when you have Will Tillery with a great access to used parts at great deals.

Fair enough, the mileage isn't super low

I hear you. I feel like most of this age will have these kind of electronic issues; not so bad imho. One sunroof motor won't work, anti-lock brake light is on and off (but brakes work well), passenger door-lock doesn't always go down, not horrific issues to me but maybe to others. To me what made mileage ok was that HG's were done by reputable shop 40k miles ago and there are exhaustive records of regular, open checkbook-type maintenance. But good to hear feedback. the more I think about it, maybe its a mistake to sell this truck as I love the thing and to me these d-1's are really a great value.

Yep. My ‘96 D1 SD has original Portofino red, straight dash, leather in great shape, and less than 84k miles. Totally stock and staying that way.

Keep it.
