fuel pressure regulator remove/reinstall

Does the Plenum chamber have to be removed to exchange the fuel pressure regulator on a 96 D1 Gems? It looks tight and the RAVE shows that the Plenum must be removed, but it seems like a hell of a lot of work to replace something that just has three hoses (and one of them a vacuum). Just curious if anyone's done it without removing the Plenum.

Thanks

You can get to it without pulling the plenum but it's only six bolts, the throttle body coolant hoses, vent hose on the passenger side and intake hose restricting it's removal. Unbolting it and flipping it to the driver's side makes the job much easier. Pulling the coil pack makes things easier too but is required.

My wife has small hands. Maybe I can just direct her work.

Thanks. I know pulling the Plenum isn't a huge deal, but taking apart stuff is just more stuff to break when taking it apart, at least in my experience.

The RAVE said the throttle thinger has to come off and unhooked, too? Is that not the case (the mounting part for the cable)

just un hook the cables from the throttle body/plenum....and this would be a great time to retorque all the intake manifold bolts too, and service the throttle body heater that is or will be leaking,

Finally got it done. Was able to flip it over without unhooking the coolant hoses.

Had two velocity stacks completely out. Got them back in and sprayed down the inside.

Even with removing the coil pack that bottom bolt on the regulator was a pain.

All together and my STFT jumped up to +24.2 on both sides, then one was + 24.2 and the other -24.2.

Maybe fouled plugs cleaning it with carb cleaner. Will drive more and see what happens.
