Fuel Pump Leak Recall

It looks like removing the fuel tank to do this recall is going to pay 1.2 hours. It’s been pretty difficult to keep techs working for this carline. Go figure.
That should be comforting to you guys that need this job done. The guys target time to remove your fuel tank and replace the pump is 1 hour and 12 min. So I’m sure nobody will be doing any hacking.

That’s a little low but not impossible. I did it on my back in the garage in 3-4 hours with a beer and pizza break in the middle. I could prob get it done in an hour with a lift now that I’ve done it once.

are the parts available yet? I’d be curious to see what the new flange looks like.

I had this job done in September. My local independent shop charged $687.50 for 5.5 hours labor (which included removing & replacing the fuel tank skid plate) plus $136.46 LR043420 fuel flange and $15.62 LR117476 seal for a total of $851.82 out the door. I'm still waiting for the "second letter" from JLR with details about the process for administering refunds. I received the first letter on October 7, 2021. I'm sure my refund will be a couple hundred bucks...LOL

I received the second letter in the mail yesterday.

"Land Rover previously wrote to you on October 07, 2021, to advise your vehicle is affected by this recall but that parts were not available for repairs. This second letter confirms that required parts are now available and service appointments can be made."

What if I have previously paid for this concern?

"If you have already paid for this concern before the date of this letter, Land Rover is offering a refund. To qualify for a refund, please provide your authorized Land Rover retailer with the original paid receipt.

To avoid delays, please do not send the receipt to Land Rover Land Rover North America, LLC."

I'll pay a visit to my local dealership this coming week and let you know how it goes....

We’re starting to do these things pretty steady now. I have one kid getting pretty good at them but not 1.2 hours good yet. I’ve had to use an inductive heater on a couple bolts, broke off a couple bolts. It’s gonna suck a little bit for sure. I dispatch them out so I don’t have more than one or 2 going at the same time.

I just stopped by the dealer - I need to schedule the actual recall service. Dealer said that the part I had installed back in September was the old part and now there is a new part so I need to have the actual recall work done. Then once the recall work is done the dealer will send in my original repair receipt for reimbursement.

The part number isn't referenced in the Land Rover recall letter.

I did just notice that the recall letter says that your Land Rover dealer will need to have your vehicle for about 2 hours, maybe longer.

No it doesn’t look like that’s the #. The list of parts I have here is LR112785 Flange/ LR175172 Filter/ LR113338 Bracket/ LR117476 Flange O Ring/ CN100509 Hose Clamp. Your not getting a new pump. Just the Flange.

Looks like I ordered LR043420, but it was the VDO branded option. Might be the new design, but hard to say without parts to compare. Ironically, it would have been cheaper to order a genuine LR112785.

I’m about 250 miles from the nearest dealer. Owning a LR here is rare and if you do, you’re largely on your own.

Last fall my wife pulled out of the driveway and left a puddle and stream of fuel in her wake. Brought the car to my local indy who fixed the problem by replacing and installing LR043420. I then get the recall standby notice. Then get the recall notice with the offer to reimburse already completed repairs. So,I submit my receipt to my dealer who passed it up to LRNA. Received a denial just today because LR043420 isn't the correct part number. He passed along the following part numbers:

LR175172
LR113338
LR117476
CN100509

I'm calling BS on the denial. The dealer then offered to correct the issue since the recall was still open. I just want the money paid back.
