I am having issues with my fuel pump not getting power, I don't hear it start up when I turn on the ignition. Hot wired pump and it works. I figure I should check the relay but I am not sure which one it is. The attached picture is the set of relays in the passenger footwell, my understanding is that it is one of these. (Haynes describes it as the one with the blue base; does that mean green/turquoise in Brit speak?)
I tested each relay with a 12v battery and all have a decent click, but when I have them loaded up and turn the key, I cannot feel any of them engage. Electrical is not really my thing so any advice would be great.

Symptoms leading to breakdown:
For a few weeks the truck would die, but start after a few minutes. But that took a lot of cranking where it sounded like it wanted to fire, but was short on something. Eventually it would get going. Finally it died completely and needed a tow. I figured fuel pump and replaced it because I had one. But no...

Thanks for that, except mine is a 94 D1... any chance you know where I can find the equivalent for a early D1?

the wire connector on your pmp is actually part of a short harness that connects on top of the driver's side frame rail ....just near the rear wheel well.....strategically placed where it can corrode....cant hurt to check it out

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. It turned out to be the wiring harness under the driver side rear wheel well. I was pulling the plug apart and one of the wires snapped cleanly into two. Soldered it back together and the truck is now running. I have since stalled out a couple of times, and all it took to get me running again was to jiggle the harness a little so I am guessing more wires in that region have problems...
