fuel smell

2004 disco 4.6L Auto with A/C.
When pressing the mode botton (on the desh "S"), there a fuel smell.
Any idea what can it be?

The "S" button does nothing with the fuel system. It directs the transmission to shift at different points - which in turn means you turn higher RPMs before shifting. If you are smelling fuel when running at higher (or any) range then you may have a leak in one of the injector seals or any of the rubber bits in the injection system (tank pump seal, rubber hose from tank to main lines, etc.)

yeah odd symptoms, they are unrelated as stated.. another common fuel smell comes from the top of the fuel pump.. you'll have to remove the rear carpet, and open the hatch there to see..

you should smell fuel fro the rear of the truck if this is the case...
