OK - I've got a 2002 DII. When I'm driving at speed and turn the wheel at all off center to the right, I get a funny rumble from what feels like below my feet. This doesn't happen at all when turning to the right. Very strange to me as there is no obvious visible evidence of the problem underneath. Any ideas guys? Thanks!

Hey thanks. Is there something I should be looking for when I put it on the lift?

Sounds to me like you have no problem then.

just to dismiss it as tire rub,you could check radius arms for fresh rub marks?

Yea, not a tire rub. Its very strange as it is a vibration when ONLY turning right. I'll investigate more...

I have something similar to this, but it is only when sitting still and turning wheel to the right, like when i back out of a driveway and start to straighten the steering wheel.

It can be felt in the steering wheel and I always thought it was the power steering pump going south, or something PS related...

Did you bend your exhaust pipe a little? Mine has been doing this for 2 years. It happens only after running for awhile when the pipe heats up and expands. Turning right swings the pipe a little and it makes contact with the frame and rumbles.

Check it out.

For me if its somthing else I am amazed I have gone 2 years

I'll get under there and take a look around. I don't know if its exhaust though - my Volvo had an issue with the exhaust making noise and it was a lot louder than this. This is fairly subtle and sounds more like a big fat guy with a raspy voice humming...if that makes it clear as mud for you

short term solution would be to only turn left.

I figured some people could use a chuckle this morning

Figured it out! Was the left wheel hub - nice and rough when turned by hand!

I also put in a Great Basin Rovers Front Driveshaft while I was under there. Both new parts make a nice positive difference!

Special thanks to Roverland 4x4 of Alexandria, VA for their help!

Did you get it fixed there? Was wondering how the service was as I am getting tired of dealer prices.

Yup - brought it down and they diagnosed it while waited! I had a great experience there and recommend them.

Same problem, Fixed it this weekend. My D2 would make a rumble, or moaning noise (I know I just set myself up for that) when turning right only. 6 PS flushes I had the same problem. I tried Lucas with no luck, Syn with no luck. I then put the recomended Havoline/Texico GM fluid in (Amber in Color). They don't make the cold weather anymore I think. Chevron bought Texico and Havoline. I went to our my local Havoline Oil change shop and the guy gave me two quarts. I took the old fluid out, I even got the second chamber using a McDonalds straw (bigger straw fit onto the end of the baster) and was able to empty the 2nd PS fluid chamber. I put in the Red stuff and I've been free of any noise for 2 weeks now. And by the way, even after the flushes my fluid was blacker than night, now it's bright red.... Hope this helps.
