It’s written by a golf magazine.

A 6 year old boy could explain why he’s really a fire truck too.

There is no argument that it is a sport if curling, pool, and darts are. Without a doubt golf takes more skill and athleticism.

The amount of skill, practice and athleticism that golf takes us pretty underestimated.

90 year old women play golf.

show me the 90 year old woman who can compete in any other sport.

Equating what they do with "playing golf" is like saying what people do with one of these is "playing basketball"...

A 90 year old could make a few shots on one of these.

Does that detract from the sport an NBA-caliber player plays?

Playing and competing are two different things. I can play basketball, but there is no way I can play competitively.
Just because older people, or obese people play casual rounds of golf, doesn't put them at the same level as someone like Tiger woods.
Call it a hobby, a game, a sport.. it doesnt matter. The fact is that the majority of people couldn't hit a straight 300 yrd drive to save their life! So when you see the pros do what they do, you learn to appreciate the skill and athleticism involved.

300yard drive? Most people couldn't make a life-dependent 6 foot putt 😄

Hand eye coordination? Fuck man I get 3 beers in me I can't find my ass with both hands
So putting a little white ball in that hole is definitely out of the question. maybe golf does require skill?
I never said golf does not require skill I just don’t believe it is a sport.
Put quarter inch wide steel under their shoes, put them on ice while moving 20-30 mph and other people trying to knock them into last week and putting the ball in a hole.
so yes it takes skill to hit it straight then put it in a small hole but they have the luxury of eliminating a lot of external forces.
Tennis and golf you have the option of silence to concentrate.
I think baseball is boring as golf but even those guys have to concentrate on hitting a dynamic target while fans are yelling and causing distraction.
basketball at the free throw line Takes the same amount of hand eye coordination and concentration while fans are yelling and waving shit.
It’s interesting how golfers will never concede. If a golfer said yeah it takes skill but it’s a lot easier than other sports. I get it, if you don’t have perfect swings the ball does not go where you want it to go. Add distractions and some sort of athletic element like doing 50 push ups before each swing and running to the ball like those speed golfers do it.
