Golf courses are bad for the environment

I never said golf didn't require skill. I played a lot of golf when I was a kid. I just don't like it. Am I good at it? Oh hell no, but if I didn't think it sucked I would try to get better.

Put quarter inch wide steel under their shoes, put them on ice while moving 20-30 mph and other people trying to knock them into last week and putting the ball in a hole.
so yes it takes skill to hit it straight then put it in a small hole but they have the luxury of eliminating a lot of external forces.

It’s interesting how golfers will never concede. If a golfer said yeah it takes skill but it’s a lot easier than other sports.

Just for some background, I was a big basketball bum growing up and thought golf was a lame white-people thing. Then the 97 Masters happened, and I married a gal who played since jr golf and now I have dependency issues with chasing little white balls around...

The thing with golf is, it's not about external pressures and dynamic reaction.

The thing that makes it different on the professional level is the margin for error. It's closer to zero than for any other contest other than maybe boxing.

It's not about other people trying to make you fuck up. It's about your ability to make an athletic move almost perfectly 72 times in a row, hopefully less 😄

And yes, you have all the time in the world to plan and prepare your execution. This accentuates the fact there is no one to blame for a failure but yourself.

It's essentially a sport played against your own brain, which is what makes it an addictive mind-fuck.

The only thing that you could put on a hot dog to insult it is baby diarrhea. A hot dog is a tube of ground up pig assholes for Christ’s sake.
And that’s the good name brand ones....just imagine what they’re putting in the store brand baloney rolls. Processed meat is fucking disgusting. It’s like olive loaf. How the fuck do they get olives mixed in the meat? Good sausage from a butcher is the only meat tube product I’ll eat.

Well in his defense you do have to pay a premium for beef hotdogs. Who really knows what the cheap ones are made out of? Could be a pigs ass I suppose

sorry man. the only dogs in my freezer are from a cattle ranch down the road and are as cheap as decent shit at the store.

So putting a little white ball in that hole is definitely out of the question. maybe golf does require skill?
I never said golf does not require skill I just don’t believe it is a sport.

Tennis and golf you have the option of silence to concentrate.
I think baseball is boring as golf but even those guys have to concentrate on hitting a dynamic target while fans are yelling and causing distraction.
basketball at the free throw line Takes the same amount of hand eye coordination and concentration while fans are yelling and waving shit.
It’s interesting how golfers will never concede. If a golfer said yeah it takes skill but it’s a lot easier than other sports. I get it, if you don’t have perfect swings the ball does not go where you want it to go. Add distractions and some sort of athletic element like doing 50 push ups before each swing and running to the ball like those speed golfers do it.

it will change. i.e. 17 in Phoenix.

I can't stand watching baseball or golf.

I like playing golf alone and fast.

I tried for ten years to get decent. Stayed the same. Got to bogie really fast. Breaking 80 is impossible for me unless I am in the best "athletic" condition of my life. That includes weight, strength, flexibility, sanity, etc.

Maybe these guys were discussing what they were going to put on their hotdogs when they got to the 19th hole. Should have been watching where they were going. You can't tell it but that's a 4-5 foot straight drop into the ditch. Beer cans everywhere and they grabbed their shit and left without telling the pro shop.

Playing and competing are two different things. I can play basketball, but there is no way I can play competitively.
Just because older people, or obese people play casual rounds of golf, doesn't put them at the same level as someone like Tiger woods.
Call it a hobby, a game, a sport.. it doesnt matter. The fact is that the majority of people couldn't hit a straight 300 yrd drive to save their life! So when you see the pros do what they do, you learn to appreciate the skill and athleticism involved.

This is where handicap comes in play. Good points.

Speaking of carts, I was playing in Savannah, GA and the cart had A/C. No shit. It also had all kinds of flat screens with GPS do-dads. Lastly, I got pissed at a short PW shot and drove the cart about 25 feet from the green, just a bit over the staked out position for carts on path. The damn cart shut itself off and started beeping. It then informed me it was paging the ranger. I got my happy ass off the cart and pushed the damn thing back 10 feet, drove on. Crazy stuff like this can make the game not enjoyable. I'll stick with farm courses for awhile.

When the subject of how to increase golf's popularity comes up my suggestion is to encourage people to not keep score. Don't give out score cards unless they insist. Because you can only be so bad at basketball, or baseball, or name the sport. But it's easy to be embarrassingly, epicly bad at golf. So just don't keep score. Get some beer, go out and drink and enjoy yourself, and maybe run a cart into a ditch.

I do this more often than not. After I get a couple of triples I throw the card in the trash and grab another cold one. I always remember this as well You're not playing against other people in your group, your're playing against the course. Easy to forget that.

This is the kind of shit that makes it hard for me to rent a cart. Shit happens, no body forgives shit anymore. I bet they parked the cart and some kids did that to it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

They could have set the thing on fire and ran it off an actual cliff and the pro shop would have done nothing. Hammering your customers isn't good for business.

Ha.

Back when I used to use FB regularly to keep in touch with people I was moving away from (Now I just use it to browse classifieds, I don't make updates to status) I made the following status update on this day in 2013:

"My boss gets the last laugh: my going away lunch is at the Coronado Golf Course. The only people who play golf are shitheads. Literally people who have shit for heads. Now I'm surrounded by them as I'm trying to enjoy a free meal and say goodbye to my team."
