Taking vehicles into the UK isn't so easy either. I hold a UK Passport and several years ago I took back a Ford F150. On arrival in the UK Her Majesty's Customs and Excise climbed all over it. Had to prove that I had had it in my possession for 12 months straight and that I had not visited the UK within those 12 months. If I had they would have put a value on it and I would have had to pay 27% of that value to import it. Getting it through an MOT was a real pain. If I remember I had to put orange bulbs in the reverse lights since this particular testing station had a problem with the brake light and turn signal both being red. That said this was in 1998 and things may be different now.

buy a 1985 outfitted like you want. most of the newer trim bolts on.

make sure it will pass YOUR STATE'S emissions regulations.

the other methods will end up costing you alot of $$$ and you will end up with a crushed Defender.
