Hauled home the "new" Series IIA 109 NADA

I haven't had a chance to do much other than look at the new truck sitting in the garage since bringing it home, but I wanted to at least provide you guys a link to view some photos of when we went down to look at the truck and when we hauled it home.

I have very similar photos of when I trailered my 88 over the Blue Ridge mountains a few winters back. I'm still of the mind that Series are some of the most useful, user-serviceable vehicles on the planet, and also that the rolling restoration of one is a therapeutic experience in itself.
Keep us updated on the progress ... I mean, winter is here so you should get a lot done right?

I thought I would have a lot of time to tinker with the Series since coming home, but between being swamped at work, Holidays, and a wife and kids that demand attention, I just haven't had much time to do anything but clean the inside of the truck.
That's where I started. And then in order to keep SWMBO happy I would wake up before her and the baby on weekends and get some work in, or make deals with her for a few hours here and there. Of course a lot of it I could fit in around errands as I was replacing bits and pieces here and there. Lowes and Tractor Supply became good friends and my bedside reading changed to the Green Bible and electrical circuit printouts I was trying to decipher.

i restored a series 11a 109 3-4 yrs ago..have a pic. Its a green one..called pete's 109 on my site . you might enjoy looking at it.

Unfortunately, the Discovery has been relegated to staying outside of the garage since bringing home the Series, and now my outside oil slick is growing quite rapidly.
I haven't had a chance to do anything but clean it. Hopefully, when the weather warms up, I'll really be able to devote some time to the truck.
One cool thing is Rovers North has asked me to write a story about my Land Rover experience including purchasing my first Series to be used in an upcoming Rovers North news. I thought that was pretty cool. Keep a look out in your mailbox.

For some reason when you get a series you usally get all this information and records from previous owners.Well parts are still available and reasonable. Youve got plenty of time whats the hurry.
Take your time and enjoy getting to know a series and how many bolts are involved in that seat box. You really get a true feeling and meaning of a landrover with this baby on the trails btw keep your hands on the outside of the steering wheel when approaching rocks. Hey she looks happy there in that garage at her new home. Best of luck man and feel free to ask me anything if I can help you.

I might be wrong but if so I'm sure someone will tell me.
The clutch has 2 hydraulic components
Slave down by the bellhousing
Clutch master that sob is tucked in the front drivers side corner of fender which you might consider pulling fender to replace. Dont scrimp on clutch master brake master and slave components hoses etc cause once done thoroughly usally last a good while.Sitting for long periods dry rot sets in on all rubber parts wheel cyclinders etc.
Cant advise you on paint job
Mixed feelings on that youre present day look offers a lot of character and history.
Some with those fresh shiny paint jobs kill it for me.

I will be picking up my 65 IIa 109 on Friday that I hope is in equally good condition as yours. (photos can decieve) Mine is a RHD with a 2.25 diesel, so we both have engines equally hard to shop for..haha

You really can't tell much from photos. When I originally found this truck for sale, all I had to go on were some low-resolution photos attached to a Word document that the previous owner emailed me. He did not have a digital camera to snap any additional pictures. Good thing was, with some general $ value advise from guys on this board, I was able to get him to accept something below $1500 before even driving down and seeing the truck. Bad pictures worked in my favor in these circumstances.
Post some pictures of your Series when you get it. I am sure once I really dig into the truck I'll have more to ask and contribute on these Land Rover forums.
