Help a Jeep Guy Get Back in a Disco

Well guys and gals, I had an 03 Disco and had it for just about a year and got rid of it due to a move. Now I'm driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I've lifted put some bigger meat under it, added skid plates all that good stuff.

Here's my deal I still owe about 15K on the Jeep :ack:. I would love to get back into a late model disco NOW! ;) What should I look for in the late model discos, what kinda prices can I expect and is it even worth it for me to bother trading in my 05 Jeep for an 03 or 04 Disco?

Thanks for any info you can provide. It'd be nice to stop being a 2 year site lurker and actually particpate on the forum because I have a disco.

03 Discos are fairly cheap- the 04 is holding value quite a bit. Shop around. Sell yours retail and buy from a private party.

whatever you do, don't trade the Jeep. you'll get screwed. sell it privately and then buy a Disco from a private owner. so X2 on what syoung said.

Guys, thank you for all the info. You're right on getting screwed with trading in the Jeep. I shall continue my quest.

Either that or pic up a $4K older D1 disco and have both.

I with this. Good way to have a trail rig for cheap and have fun building it up at the same time. Plus if you scratch or dent it who cares:victory:

Hmm, thats actually not a bad idea. Maybe I'll check out that avenue. What are things I need to look for in D1s?

Hate to admit it but from experiance, you get more for it if you can put the factory suspension and factory size tires back on. You have a better change of selling to someone who wants a mall runner, than an off-road trasher.

You realize of course that you pulled up a thread that was over 9 months dead?

My mistake!

Oh well, it'll be another 9 monthly payments before the Jeep's trade-in is worth what he owes, anyway.
