Before Discoweb went down, I read a post containing a link to a very detailed set of instructions on setting the swivel preload on a Discovery I. I didn't save it and it's gone now. If anyone knows how to get these instructions, I would be most grateful if they would pass it on. TIA, cjm.

swivel preload link

heres the link. for some reason i can't get it to load into my browser.

http://www.sf.hiof.no/~frodehaa/swivelpinpreload.htm

maybe the server it is on is down.

best of luck with the preload setting. I have a print out of the instructions myself, and have been thinking my disco needs it done to. but since i have never done it before it seems a bit daunting. let me know how iy goes if you do it.

Its dead simple, once you done one side. Takes about 1 hr/side tops. And nope - you dont really have to take caliper's housing off, if you got decent set of tools.

You will bless yourself if you got any power tool to deal with those damn pin bolts, though. It makes job MUCH simpler (since its trial and error and biggest time taken by tightening two bolts that secures swivel pin).

could this adjustment cause a swivel-seal to leak? i cannot find any visible damage yet it continues to slip by. :(
