Hello Good People,
I really want to move forward with this project so I would very much appreciate any positive/technical advise as to achieve the object.

This is a working voice warning system aka"Bitching Betty" from an old school 80s Datsun. When connected it will speak:
Left door is open
Right door is open
Lights are on
Fuel level is low
Parking brake is on

Getting started would I simply connect the D1 door plunger wire to the Bitching Betty's corresponding wire or might I be able to tap into a central brain on the D1? I know anything is possible, I think I only need access to 5 to 6 wires.

Now that would be cool!
This little device contains a tiny vinyl record that adjusts its needle to play the warnings when triggered by particular events.

You need to talk to the guy who engineered a bespoke CPU for his custom 6x6 Discovery. If anyone can figure out how to marry outdated technology to an obsolete relic, it will be him.

Is this the equivalence of being flogged? Ancient male bonding? How sweet of you all to embrace and welcome me into the fold.
Remember I cannot get it to say anything beyond what is on the tiny pre recorded record.

Toran, you won't find much love or appreciation here. The comments are an effort to make fun of new people so that they go away and stop asking stupid questions.

Since you asked for constructive help, do you already have a wiring diagram for the control unit? Does it have an integrated speaker? You'll need to know what sort of signal it's looking for (+12v, gnd, specific resistance, etc) before you just start feeding it current. If you have these details, it will be an easy decision whether you can tap circuits from the existing loom or need to use aftermarket pins, switches, etc to get the desired feed. Since this is pretty old stuff, I expect that it will not be technically challenging, but you need more info if you want it to be successful.

Its not because you're new. Its because you keep making gay mods to your truck.

fish,
I just like gadgets, I have a history of taking things apart and putting them back together. Its not meant to annoy anyone, I simply enjoy being creative and thinking outside the box. Not all the mods stay in the car, I try it and after awhile they are hidden or removed. I've had break ins in the past that left my radio gone. At the moment the only mod was adding a 95 RRC clock and the ScanGauge.

One of the best D1 mods ever! I love my analog clock.

I will offer a dissenting opinion on this one. Since my wife already views driving a 20 year old vehicle embarrassing, I don't need to remind her that it is old by installing an analog clock. Digital for me.

But I get that the 'retro' look is kinda cool.

Toran, Where are you in Ohio? You might find some assistance with this over on the Green Oval Guild page in FB. (At worst, you can hook up with those guys and see what they think in person at one of their monthly breakfast/coffee meetings.)
