Tire size is 265/75-16’s

Dunlop Mud Rover – These tires I paid about $130 each for the tire alone. They are very good for the price. I took these in the mud and they performed well. The lugs clean out pretty good, as long as its not that real tacky mud. On slick rock (Moab) they do very well. They were very good, there were times I had trouble but being locker-less was probably the main problem. The tread wear was my biggest issue. The asphalt seems to like to eat them up pretty good. Not super fast but I have had tires last a lot longer. Overall I give them 3/5 stars, If you need a cheap alternative MT these are for you.

BF Goodrich MT (new ones) – Ok I didn’t have to pay for these tires, I had a issue with discount tire and they ended up giving me a set. They run about $190 a tire. This tire is awesome. It is one of a few that have a 3 ply sidewall. Even the sidewall is pretty aggressive. Tread wear is kind of unknown from me, I just got them a week ago. On slick rock, they grab and go. Kind of surprises you. In the mud they seem to clean out ok. I received a lot of traction in the mud. As far as the highway goes, they are pretty quiet. I give them a 4/5 stars, If the tread wear is good I’d bump it to a 5.

Comparison
– Ok the BFG’s are defiantly better. At $60 more each, there worth it over the Dunlop’s. I was never a big fan of BFG’s. In high school I owned a set of A/T’s and was not real happy with them. This is the second set of BFG’s in over 5 years. I have tried all kinds of M/T’s and now that I am back to BFG’s wow, I am happy with them. I am sure there are better tires out there, and as far as wheeling goes I know there are better tires out there. But, for a all purpose M/T, (highway driving and wheeling), I recommend the BFG M/T’s.

Hope this helps those out looking for a tire.

Yeah. that's pretty much my experience with the Dunlop Mud Rovers...they do seem to be wearing pretty fast and getting progressively noisier despite frequent rotations to even everything out.

Now I really liked the BFG TracEdges - best of both worlds. Still have 'em on the '72 88" but they seemed to wear down quickly on the Disco, and BFG doesn't make 'em anymore. I'll keep the MT's in mind for next time...which might be all too soon, damnit....

You know it took me reading this to even remember that I had some Dunlops, maybe A/T's a very long time ago. I think I put 3 on a 2wd GMC full size I had.

The reason I remembered is because they wore so quickly. I eventually bought a full set, different size of Cooper Cobra's and never bought another tire for that truck.

I ran the Dunlop Mud Rovers for 3 years. I didn't have any problems with tire wear mostly due to the fact I had to replace three during that time due to sidewall punctures. One I cut clean open from the bead to the tread, the sidewall was only about an 1/8 thick. In the long run it would have been cheaper to run a more expensive tire with better sidewalls.
