Tire size is 265/75-16’s
Dunlop Mud Rover – These tires I paid about $130 each for the tire alone. They are very good for the price. I took these in the mud and they performed well. The lugs clean out pretty good, as long as its not that real tacky mud. On slick rock (Moab) they do very well. They were very good, there were times I had trouble but being locker-less was probably the main problem. The tread wear was my biggest issue. The asphalt seems to like to eat them up pretty good. Not super fast but I have had tires last a lot longer. Overall I give them 3/5 stars, If you need a cheap alternative MT these are for you.
BF Goodrich MT (new ones) – Ok I didn’t have to pay for these tires, I had a issue with discount tire and they ended up giving me a set. They run about $190 a tire. This tire is awesome. It is one of a few that have a 3 ply sidewall. Even the sidewall is pretty aggressive. Tread wear is kind of unknown from me, I just got them a week ago. On slick rock, they grab and go. Kind of surprises you. In the mud they seem to clean out ok. I received a lot of traction in the mud. As far as the highway goes, they are pretty quiet. I give them a 4/5 stars, If the tread wear is good I’d bump it to a 5.
Comparison – Ok the BFG’s are defiantly better. At $60 more each, there worth it over the Dunlop’s. I was never a big fan of BFG’s. In high school I owned a set of A/T’s and was not real happy with them. This is the second set of BFG’s in over 5 years. I have tried all kinds of M/T’s and now that I am back to BFG’s wow, I am happy with them. I am sure there are better tires out there, and as far as wheeling goes I know there are better tires out there. But, for a all purpose M/T, (highway driving and wheeling), I recommend the BFG M/T’s.
Hope this helps those out looking for a tire.
