'04 just turned 100K. Had very small drip on drivers side HG solved with K-Seal. Sparkplug wires failed at 65K. Engine running better than ever at the moment. No ticking, etc. Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel truck 5w-40. No engine drips, but several "sweats".

Xfer case has starting dripping. Transmission shift to 4th rough but improving. Transmission has gotten better since Mobil1 and filter change at 90K. It was clear the dealer did not change the original filter as part of the 30K service - the tiny bolts holding the filter were very difficult to crack loose.

Rotoflex was cracked and needed replacing at 90K.

03 SE 74K...original HG's (knock on wood). routine maintenance only so far other than coolant hose. Coolant hose did pop off but luckily I had just picked up coolant to do a coolant flush and had it with me in the truck for an easy fix in a quik trip parking lot. Engine ticked for a little bit but after changing to Royal Purple and later Rotella it went away (thinking the shell lube place that put the sticker on my window from before I bought it put in crappy oil). Changed tstat and the hoses two weeks after and had it checked out after that to be safe but there was no troubles. Driveshaft didn't break but switched to a TW to be safe. Also switched to 8mm wires. Been great so far. My G37 has more problems than the Disco. I've put about 30K on it since purchase. I bought the LR dealer's personal car and he had records with nothing done but routine.

Looked into it before and WOULD LOVE to switch to a LR diesel but it looks like more $ than it is worth. Thinking I could challenge Nomad for highest priced used DII (he is asking 44k lol) if I did make the switch though.

Put a lot of money into this truck but all in good stuff

I had one of the hoses coming out of the thermostat pop off and I lost most of the coolant - this probably resulted in the slight HG leak I got later. You need to really check that the 2 hoses at the top are properly seated along with the clamps. Apparently mine worked loose over time.

03 with 136K. 1st engine had about 54K on it when the oil pump blew. 2nd motor had about 65K on it when it dropped a cylinder sleeve. 3rd engine bought used and has about 45K on it. I hope and pray that this one last longer than the others.

03' HSE in bad Vin# range-49789 miles. I'm the second owner and bought it w/ 4k miles on it. I just replaced valve cover gaskets, serpentine belt, plugs, wires, intake gasket, SAI solenoid, t-stat, expansion cap changed to Peak Global (green) anti-freeze and Rotella T6 oil change with 49789 miles. It over heated one time and immediately shut it down and added water... the t-body gasket had been slowly leaking about a year ago.

Just got an Ultra Gauge to keep an eye on the water temp and will be eventually getting an oil pressure gauge. Other than a few regulators, brake switch, new brakes, leaky sun roof drain, saggy headliner, cracked bumpers... A-pillars... wiper shroud and now two actuators it's been okay (finger's crossed).

I had the same thing happen last month, the barb on the upper hose failed on the plastic thermostat housing and it dumped everything. Luckily it was only idling for a minute or 2 when this happened. Parts guy at the dealer knew the t-stat part number off by heart, I guess they sell a few. I asked him if he knew the head gasket # too and he gave me that knowing smile, but luckily no issues yet.

Pathetic. I've got to be in that 10% that still has the original motor with 140K miles.

<---- knocking on wood
I am too. Don't listen to Tim, he's still pissed, because after he lifted his truck again, it still isn't as high as mine. My truck has so many miles because the previous owner traveled ALOT.

2004 disco about to turn 200k miles. This truck has never had the 3 amigos lights come on, and it is the original engine on the original head gaskets. Other than regular tune ups and a throttle body cooler gasket, it really hasn't had any unscheduled maintenance. In fact, it never leaked a drop of oil until a couple months ago around 190k miles. Now it is leaving a small spot on my garage floor, it looks like it could be the oil pan gasket, but I haven't taken it in yet.

I think the key is to drive them regularly and not let them sit? or maybe it is just a roll of the dice, either you get a good one or you don't?

Anyway, KNOCK ON WOOD!

Thanks for the replies. My 04 d2 as 126K. 1st HG job at 35K and then another at 117K. Now I think I have slipped liner, but going to bring it in to find out. Truck has never over heated and isn't actively losing coolant. Perhaps truck will keep working for a bit with a slipped liner?
