How would I mount this mesh under the hood?

Hello Good People,

Saw this image and was curious as to what compound/material could be used to mount wire mesh under the hood to prevent debris from entering the holes/engine bay?

Anything I should be concerned about getting wet under the hood after this mod?

Thanks

I saw the mod on 4X4 pirate site. The pros and cons of letting additional heat off the engine during wheeling.
I picked up a used hood and was going to give it a try. Nothing more nothing less than trying something different aside from it looking aggressive. These days the only aggression is modifications to the Rover.

A local company sells magnetic car signs so I could use this material to cover up if need be. Again this is a spare part to experiment with.

no need really for this. its pointless....also, in the pic it looks like those holes are directly above the coil packs. Doesn't sound like a good combo to me. These rover V8s are meant to run fairly hot, no need for extra venting. #itaintahotrod

If you don't cut holes in your hood in the first place, you won't have to worry about keeping debris (and water) out.

A properly maintained D1 won't overheat; even when moving slowly over rough terrain.

Good feedback everyone.
Just wanted to check in on the pros and cons of what shouldn't be getting wet right underneath this area.

I've earned an entry level position here. Did I tell you about the time my forward gear went out in the D2, and I drove it home 13 miles in reverse.
