It was pretty easy to add hydro assist to the RRC. I tapped the box on the front side where there is the circular cover and also on the top side where the bleeder is. Both pieces are easily removable, so no chance of getting metal debris in the box. I drilled the pitman arm out and just mounted the ram on the top side and the drag link on the bottom side. It was mounted in single shear, but held up for me. Definitely a night and day difference when you have 36" tires and lockers. I thought it was a pretty easy project to take on overall. To me, the most daunting part about a project like that is getting all of the correct fittings and lines you need.

Then buy an FJ80. At this point they have less rust than our rovers. They probably still catch real money though.

And Toyota still supports the parts!

But there is hi steer available for the FJ80 axles which make it way more functional

I'm sure it is better, but it is simple and cheap to add hydro-assist without doing high steer on those axles since they are actually strong.

The Toyotas I have seen rust even more than Rovers. Even in NYC, Rovers didn't have rust issues. After working as a mechanic Manhattan and Long Island for 4 years, I still haven't ever had to use a torch. Now that I live in Ca, I don't know what rust is.
