I absolutely love the way Disco 1's are blowing up in value!

Thought it’d go high but sold for $90k. If I was gonna blow $90k on an old Rover I’d rather it this than a crappy BaT ‘restomod’ with a 19J

At the end of the day, most people dont really drive their collectable cars much anyway, so this will likely live in fancy garage someplace. I think it would have been cool for LRNA to buy it and send it on a tour of the dealerships

You’re right most people don’t drive their collectible cars and why I really enjoy getting the ‘94 RRC LWB out more than I should. I like driving all my vehicles yet the Rangie always puts a smile on my face. Not sure it is per se “collectible” yet it is at least gaining value.

I just spat out my tea. What a lump of feces - that engine, not my tea.

I've been pondering this question with my D1. If it gets in an accident I'll get zilch under my current auto insurance policy. I've toyed with the idea of insuring it for the replacement value, which is $12,000 if these madcap auctions are any indication.

Funny you mention this. A rodent got into the Rangie a few years back and caused havoc with underdash wiring and in general throughout the interior. And it was garaged! In any case shipped it to ECR and Mike started rewiring it. Insurance agent stopped by ECR after it was finished and flipped out at the bill. Mike convinced him that the Rangie value was more than the agent claimed and paid the claim. Like you I thought about getting declared value insurance. Maybe this year will get off my ass and actually do it at least for the Rangie which now has antique plates.

I don't like it, since I no longer have a Disco but have been wanting to buy another! I miss my D1, wish I never would have sold it. My dad had a 94 that he ended up donating to the kidney foundation (years ago) without consulting me first! It was running and driving and was pretty clean but all stock.

Please tell me how any insurance company would value a D1 at 12k if it has > 120k miles. If you can document 12k worth of mods, perhaps, but right now you are dreaming, IMO.

Lately? The housing market where I live has been rising sharply for years. Despite all the people I hear complaining about Seattle, apparently a lot of people still want to move here.
Do you live in Seattle or outside of Seattle? Frankly you could not pay me enough to move to Seattle or Portland.

Seattlites, Californicators, Oregonites and Denverites are all flocking to my neighborhood (top ten household income county in US for decades). It is now a crazy time. All lots are built out now, something I have been waiting for. 35 minutes to Denver. For 15 years we saw consistent increase in value of 2-3%. In the past year... 40%. There are now ZERO houses for sale in our area, when one goes up, it goes in a day for 15-20% over list if you get a couple interested parties (which you will), so really 60% increase in a single year or 1.25 year.

I never thought I would see California style bidding wars in our rural area, but its here and I hope to stay, because I do not see myself staying here. Unfortunately wifey is on deathbed and does not have the motivation to move. I am praying for remission, praying I manage to outlive her as she really needs me 24/7 right now.

:-(

As for Disco. I would have paid 10k for a really clean D1 10 years ago, so I don't really think they have increased in value that much. You get what you pay for. A clean D1 has been worth 10k for a long time.

Oh, should we talk about how all the covid fucktards are trashing the backcountry? Moab is officially a shithole, full of assholes. Now that C19 kicked in everyone and every obnoxious family is an "overlander". They bring with them 100k jeeps, trailers and ATVs that rip the shit up. Tread lightly and leave no trace are a thing of the past. They have trashed the back country like none before its like a freaking parking lot anywhere within 100 miles of a "popular" destination. You have to really get back there now to escape these idiots. Also met a lot of idiot foreigners too. They like to rip it up as much as the fucktards, but they know its "our country" they are destroying so they generally DGAF.

What is wrong with people....

LOL.

I live in Seattle proper. Three miles from downtown. I'm walking distance to light rail, lots of parks, Lake Washington, great restaurants, cool neighborhood businesses, a diversity of ages/incomes/languages/backgrounds, I dig my neighborhood. Traffic here (pre-pandemic) was atrocious but I took light rail or rode my bike to work, so I rarely drive more than 5,000-6,000 miles per year. I've been here for about 20 years and I'm pretty happy, although not completely content. The only reason I can afford to live where I do is that I bought my house near the bottom of the Great Recession. I could not afford to buy here if I was in the market today.

I just spent 5 months traveling the country in my LR3, working remotely in MI, FL, NC, NM, and CA. Part of the reason for the journey was to try out living in other areas to see where else I might want to call home in the future. Each place has its charms, but ultimately none of them has all the things I love about Seattle. Some places have things I want that Seattle doesn't, but I'm yet to find a better match for my lifestyle than the Emerald City (other than South Africa, where I used to live, and hope to again).

Try ID, WY, UT, NE... many others. I would love the culture in Seattle as well, but I have had enough culture to appreciate all of it. The culture I now love is completely rural America.

Thank you very much for your kind words. No diagnosis. No cancer. No tumors. Blood looks good. The only thing that is killing her is what is killing her and everyone from CU Denver to Johns Hopkins is clueless. It is autoimmune, so maybe there is some chance if "reboot".

We have been fighting the healthcare system and battling each doctor panning us off to another for > 2yrs. No one wishes to take ownership and liability.

She just got a treatment in Feb 8 2021 that Johns Hopkins recommended in Aug/Sep 2019. It helped but would have been better had she had strength. She is now down 80 lb.

It is mind boggling hard to give care 24/7 and maintain a job. Toughest thing I have ever done, without a doubt. TPN is keeping her alive, she can't eat!!!!

How hard is THAT when I am BBQ chicken, ribs and brisket!!! Sh!t, I made some bitchin' risotto last night. She can barely swallow a pill. It fvcking sucks. After 33 years of dedication, she is gonna croak before me. Fuck me.

Sorry for the rant. I have just been on this site so long, I know you guys have some compassion. I have always told her she should reach out to you guys when I die, but its looking like she may beet me to the punch. Her family seems to care less about her than you guys do about me. Sad.

Pray or thoughts. Thank you!

Kind of makes a 10k disco Piggley Winks, LOL.

Give me a disco with gull wing doors, like this:

No I am not a raptor tool. I have a '97 F-350 Crew PSD.

Sorry to derail the thread, life hasn't been all that great. Fortunately C19 allowed me to not do the 200k miles per year and be able to take care of my wife.
