The story on this truck I pretty much know. One of my guys picked got it cheap from a customer who didn’t want to fix it. He took the head off the right side and had a valve guide fixed. Put it back together and has something wrong in the cam timing. Has a air bag light on and that’s why the right side seat is off the floor and trim on right side taken apart. Brakes pulsate bad. And just a bunch of issues.
So the dealership is on anybody who’s got any cars on the lot, they want them gone. He’s got no place to take it and finishing it isn’t something he’s into right now.
$1000 is what I paid for it. It’s an ‘08 Supercharged truck with rear seat entertainment. Lots of miles @196,000 ish.
I’ve told you guys, now I gotta tell the warden.

That won’t be the problem. She likes my time away from here. I figured out it’s all the breathing. In and out, in and out. I think she just wants me to stop doing that. Doing it someplace else is good.

What does the brain trust around here thing this thing would be worth if I sort all this shit out? I ask because I have 2 choices. Have my son buy it and sort it for him. He needs a car right now. Or I flip it. It’s an ‘08 Supercharged LM Range. I think it could bring close to 10 grand. I think if it had less miles I could get more. Anyone know what they are getting for these?

I’d be happy with $9000 on that. High miles but someone will pay around that when it’s sorted. Prices on middle of the road ones have been all over the last month. I’ve seen trucks I think would go for $25k go for much less… but prices are still “up” compared to pre COVID and pre “overland hype.”

On cars and bids or wherever with paperwork, great photos and some videos, plus the “fixed by a LR tech” line you’ll get close to 10. It’s the ones where people see a 100k truck without a timing chain service that freak out bc the badge still scares most people.

It's hard to go wrong at that price point. Make way more than that parting it out if willing to do the leg work. But when "the warden" doesn't see it that way, and snuffs your ass, do you think Kenneth will come back when you're not here?

almost $14k for an 08 SC with 104k miles.

but this one didn't sell at almost $17k with more miles and less service history.

this 07 SC went for $30k with 114k.

If people see a west coast or souther truck, bids go way up.

Get a real detail, slap some tires and cross bars on the rack, you'll make dough.

Thanks, that’s a little better than I was thinking, but I’ve got lots of miles. Milage drives the price.

A former co-worker recently purchased an '08 RR supercharged for $10k. A month later he was let go from his job. If I wasn't building a new house, it may have ended up in my driveway.

This things gonna be fine. I drove it 50 miles home. Time I got home the brakes are better. Not perfect, but drivable. The air bag light is probably going to be a wire repair. Worst thing it could need possibly is a steering rack. Hopefully it’s just inner tie rods.

So the cam timing stuff is fine?

If so that's a hell of a deal.
no it’s got the correlation fault. But these old 4.4’s and 4.2’s are pretty easy. Probably just have to buy the torque to yield bolts on the front of the cams. I’m hoping I won’t have to take the front cover off. Valve cover will come off for sure.

Buying a kid a RRSC sounds risky. Start'em out with something real humble like a D1 that needs a long block. :)
