I've heard bad things about him and also as far as I know he was fired from Land Rover Manhattan.

He worked at Land Rover New Rochelle (not Land Rover Manhattan) for years moving up through the ranks and I believe he was service manager by the time he left. All the while he was building up his business on Stillwell Ave. in the Bronx. His shop does very good work, is reasonable and I've never heard anyone of the many people I have recommended him to say anything bad about him.

Ed seems to be having work done by Tim in Redding, CT. He's just getting started on his own after a number of years working with Kevin Murphy at British Auto Repair in Southport, CT.

I just spoke to a mutual friend and Carlos (British Auto Works) worked at Land Rover Manhattan over 15 years ago (he left around 2000). I don't know why he left, whether he was fired or quit but I do know him from the many years he moved up through the ranks at Land Rover New Rochelle. I would recommend him to anyone.

He probably went to New Rochelle after he was fired from LRM. From what I remember coworkers telling me, he was fired for saying he did work that he didn't actually do. I can verify this on Monday. That's the most common reason mechanics get fired, since it is theft.

Look, I'm not trying to mount a defense of Carlos beyond relating my personal, direct experience with him and British Auto Works. He takes very good care of the many customers I have referred to him. He and I do a good bit of used parts business as well with no complaints.. These are the things I base my opinion on not secondhand, fifteen year old hearsay.

So what? Good mechanics get fired all the time. Guys don't just get fired cause they can't fix cars, the better they get the more they hate to kiss ass and give reach arounds.I never heard of the guy but two sides to every story.

Dealerships know what's going on. They take that money right up till somebody gets caught. Some guys are willing to ride those big bucks and usually think they have someone's blessing. But once the guy gets called on it and they can't talk there way out of it then nobody knew shit. I've seen it. It's the guys making 120 grand or more.
