I really got tired of leaky power steering hoses on my D1.

Little bit of work and now no leaks! I found an outfit that makes barb to AN fittings. they seem to do well at the pump and reservoir. AN 12 to feed pump, AN6 on pump to steering box (high pressure) and AN8 for return. Last to do is the trans cooler lines.

Ya I remember reading that. I'm going to try and flare the two tubes then use a reverse AN fitting to connect to it.

Biggest thing is, I like the idea of easy replacement if a hose goes south.

Here's a "field repair kit" that now resides in my spares box.
I'd suggest maybe having different lengths of hose pre-cut so you don't have to fiddle with a dull hacksaw blade and wire cutters.

Tube ends:
1/2" tube to -8 AN male adapter (ADPT-00-12TB-8ANM): $11.29 x 2

Rubber Swivel Hose End – Straight AN, 8AN, $7.69 x 2

8AN Stainless Steel Braided hose, 3ft - $19.39

I was thinking of just that on the way to work this morning. LOL

The whole upgrade thing started with updating the oil cooler hoses, had left overs so did the PS system. I would post pics but they look like the kit lucky8 has. Hardest part was making adapter fittings to hook into the Rad and front cover. Might post in the future post how to make the front cover adapters from the stub ends of the original hose, and M20x1.5 threaded AN fittings.

Don't mess with the radiator and transmission ends. The steel line is exactly 1/2" OD, which makes it easy to use olive-based compression fittings.
