OK, I've be trying to figure why I have a slightly bumpy idle. The compression is nice an even, camshaft looked OK, plugs are new. I tried stock plugs and +4s with no change. The wires are new 7mm Magnecore. Tried a different coil too. Tonight I turned the lights off in my garage and the wires light up like a Christmas tree. There is arcing everywhere. One of the spark plug boots is almost constantly glowing. I don't know if it is actually arcing but definitely glowing. Are the stock wires like that too? Is that normal? I haven't had a car/truck with spark plug wires for a while. The truck is an 02 D2 by the way.

They are brand new with less than 2K miles on them. Does that mean Magnecore is junk?

I am sure the wires got a warranty. I got them from AB. I don't know if they sell any other brand except stock. Should I just go with stock?

No but they are this pretty blue color.

You must have the 8mm wires, mine are black 7mm. Just checked the AB website and the only other option is OE. Should I do that? Damn, I don't feel like taking all that crap apart again.

They shouldn't glow or spark. Have you changed the spark plugs???

Sure, twice. Bosch +4s at first and now Genuine Champion. No change in idle quality by the way.

I've been running 7mm on mine and they've done well for the 100K. The mechanic got them for around $70.

So what's the deal? I just got these things. Did I get a defective set? I don't feel like getting another set of the same wires just to have an issue with them again.

If you only have 2k miles on them then yes you got a defective set. Call Magnecore or AB to get a replacement set.

No boot grease at all. I went out and looked at it again and every spark plug boot is glowing. One is glowing brighter than the other 7 though. I pulled that boot and I don't see anything wrong with it. Put another plug in there and nothing changed.

do they glow even when the engine is still cold or only at temp? i would also go back and apply boot grease. i had a arcing issue on my D2. replaced wires was still there. not as bad but there. then added and changed engine ground. solved all issue's
