Fuck.
Some how my red dot was 6" to low. Never had this issue before, it's always been dead nuts.
Usually I will fire a few rounds into a target to check zero but for some reason this time I didn't.
I suck.
I no longer trust this red dot.
The good news is I fund an excellent load for my 300 AAC pistol, I just don't know the velocity.

Found the perfect load with 17gr of Lil'Gun using a Speer TNT 125gr .308. This was my 9.5" pistol.
My 16" carbine still needs some development.

This was a SightMark Ultra Shot M-Spec. I only had to sight it in then I have never had to touch it.
I'm not sure if if my poi changed because I had it off for cleaning or what. In the past when I took it off and put it back on it was always right back where it was.
The lesson here is to always check poi before shooting through a chronograph. I usually do that but with never having to adjust the sight before I took it for granted it was still on.

I think the mount is the key issue. Repeatability after removing a scope is important.
On my bolt actions this is not an issue since the scopes never come off.
For now the pistol is scope with a Bushnell AR Optic in 1-4 sitting on Leupold rings. I'll eventually get another red dot for it but I may as well keep the scope on it while I develop loads for it.
I'm looking at the EOTech for 300 AAC.
I've looked through the Aimpoints and they just weren't what I wanted. I prefer a circle dot as opposed to a moa dot covering up my target.
Meanwhile, the Chrony has been sent back to get repaired and traded for an updated version.

So I've sent the sitemark back to be replaced and I've looked through a few eotechs and I've got to say (blasphemy!) the sitemark has a much clearer reticle. The two eotechs I looked through were both xps2 models, one the xps2-0 and the xps2-2. I'm wanting a circle dot and was leaning towards the xps2-2 with two dots and the xps2-300 optimized for the 300 AAC.
Now I'm not so sure.
I've been scoping out the Sig Romeo 4h and 6h but no one has any in stock here for me to look through. I like the idea of choosing between the 4 circle-plex reticle choices. I think I would be able to utilize at least one for the blackout.
A scope on a pistol ar just blows. Shooting it with the available eye relief just begs for scope eye with super sonic loads.
