I've spent six months getting my Discovery straightened out and am looking for ideas for some good trails north of Atlanta that won't get me in too much trouble. I'm looking at the Davenport Mountain Trails as reports are they are fairly easy, but I'm really a novice in terms of mountain trails.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks!

Davenport is bike and ATV only. The only organized USFS trail system that allows regular 4x4's in Georgia is Beasley Knob near Blairsville.

Duncan Ridge Road near Suches is okay. Tray Mountain (FS 79) may still be closed.

Cruise the links here for national forest roads and trails in Georgia.

Tatum Lead also allows full size 4x4s. It in in Elijay going up toward what used to be Cohutta Lodge.

Nimblewill Gab Church rd. is also decent for an easy day. It is near Amicalola Falls.

Another option if you want to drive the extra hour or so is AOP up just west of Chattanooga. It’s a rock buggy Mecca but the Green trails that connect the more difficult trails are a lot of fun in a Disco. AOP= Adventure Off-road Park, South Pittsburgh TN. Lemme know if you are ever game to run some trails and I’ll be happy to show you around. I’m there quite often.
