Thanks to the new software upgrades, there is a new feature that I've enabled for DiscoWeb: enhanced searching. Since DWeb migrated from Discus to vBulletin way back in the day, searching has been pretty awful. The matches were generally not very refined and you simply couldn't search for three-letter words ("ABS", "TRE", etc.).

Thanks to this improved software, searching should be faster and more accurate and you can now search for anything, even single letters. It also is intelligent about the parsing of your search terms. Searching for "test" will now match "test", "tests", "testing", etc.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the new search.

Thank you! (y)

That was a personal irritation. Not being able to search for three letter words on a Land Rover forum is essentially a terminal search condition.

It's also nice not to have to repeat the same search several times piecing together words, as you never know what someone typed. That's one reason I use the full description as often as reasonable. It makes it easier for people to find later. It's not much more difficult to type "differential" than it is to type "diff", after all, but I try to make sure I've used both in a post I consider worth finding.

Cheers,

Kennith

Sorry, everybody. Due to some hardware trouble on the machine that I use for searches, this is temporarily disabled. This is a separate machine from the one that runs the site, so nothing else is affected. I will try to dig into it as soon as I have time.

In the meantime, we're back on the (more limited) built-in search.

I'm testing out a new configuration. Let me know if you have any problems with searching or posting.
