I just switched over to the dark side and got an iPhone 4S, need a case asap. What's out there? I've seen Otterbox products and like them.. don't want any kind of belt clip or anything like that, just a case. Thought I'd ask here while searching them innerwebs. Thanks in advance.

I used to have a Ballistic case, it was quite good, but I sold it to jrose when I got my LifeProof case. Being waterproof wasn't super important to me except for when using it on my boat... but it's nice being able to wash it whenever I want, and not having to worry about it falling in the sink (or worse).

If you want something a little more minimal or stylized, my buddies have a company - Happy Owl Studio - I previously had a leather backing they made that was fantastic. Combined with a bumper case, or something like a skinomi skin, it's fine for basic knocks and scratches, while keeping the sleek looks.

$80!!! I would hope so..

But honestly I am that guy that breaks everything including every case I have had probably totaling more than $80 so this should be my next case.

$80 to save $600...sounds pretty smart to me

Yea I have and always will have insurance on my phone. I lose them and break them all the damn time. One time I dropped my phone crossing the street in Brooklyn near my apartment. Found it the next morning in the street, got ran over by a car, but still worked.

I broke the verizon g-one super indestructible phones...I have yet to kill a iphone. The best case ever was the otterbox for the 3...I really like the lifeproof and it is worth every penny, even survived the pool test

Ha! Love that story. A phone of mine came out of my pocket once when I was retrieving keys and it bounced into the street where it was promptly run over by a car. If you were filming it for a movie you couldn't have staged it better. I was elated and told my wife "See, that's why I get the free phone that comes with the contract!"

That phone didn't survive, so now I have a poseur tough phone that feels like a brick and has primitive technology. Haven't felt I'm missing out on the smart phone thing, and my wife has an iPhone so if I absolutely have to use the interwebs and can't wait, I'm covered.

But if I bought an iPad, which seems more useful to me, then you can be damn sure I'm getting a burly case for it.

not an iPhone but I was drunk and decided it would be a good experiment to throw my blackberry off a 21st floor balcony in the rain, into traffic on the street below.... it turned on and you could answer calls, but the screen was nothing but blank white. Used it for two weeks like that.

Love my LifeProof case. A tad expensive, but unlike other cases that offer similar protection, the LifeProof case is very slim, adds very little bulk to the phone and isn't "sticky" so you can get it in and out of a pocket with ease.

Dang, I just got an iPhone and bought an Otterbox Defender. I may have to get a lifeproof, that looks sweet.

The Otter Box Defender offers great everyday protection from bumps drops and scratches, but not sand , dust or water. On top of that it's bulky and the sticky rubber part makes it a pain in the ass to get out of you pocket. I may break down today and buy a LifeProof case. Best Buy has it for $79.99. Has anyone found it significantly cheaper?
