Had to use my 40 year old Rover to drive 2 hrs to replace a leaking plastic tStat for our newest Rover that couldn’t make it. This is a massive brand new JLR dealership in Alexandria, VA. I hate to think how much cost cutting will have to be done to make the ROI on this sucker.

Great pic and irony at its finest. Black Lab or Flatcoat?

Ha! Good catch. It’s a pointer(gsp). Been the wing man from very early on.

That's one shiny building. I miss the old rustic lodge style dealerships. What was the vehicle and how did they treat you?

The building really sleek and modern and still hasn't been fully completed. I understand they are also putting a full state of the art gym/spa. The facility they moved from was the old original rustic lux lodge-style. They moved to this last April. Rough guess they have easily 200 new vehicles in the side parking lot.

They treated me very well. As I was walking in an employee was walking out and he asked if i needed any help. I said I was looking for the parts dept. He said thats on the other side of the building and down two stories. I thanked him and started to turnaround when he stopped me and said follow me. He took me to an employee-only area and showed me an elevator and gave me directions to find the part dept. I was impressed with that.

Well you would have been more impressed if he walked you all the way to the parts dept. like he was supposed to do.
Don’t worry about that overhead costing you anything. They’re just going to take that from the mechanics in back.

That looks a lot like the JLR dealership in Fort Myers, FL. I went there as the only option for my LR3 when I was in town. I stood in the service pick-up/drop-off area for ten minutes watching their scrolling garage doors open and close. It was mesmerizing - like something out of Star Trek. Fast and nearly silent. How can I get that on my garage? You can see them on the far left of this photo:

No doubt, plus maybe coolant hoses and T-stat housing made from paper mâché. The V6 T-stat housings are on back-order and the story is minimum 4 months. This dealership sold me an aftermarket part and told me they'd warrant it. Ha!! Yeah, right, I said. Everyone behind the counter laughed out loud.

I was actually amazed at my most recent two dealership experiences. Took my LR4 in back in October to have them perform the fuel flange recall work and diagnose my intermittent audio system. Gave the LR4 a great car wash (like a superb wash) and I owed nothing for the diagnostic and of course nothing for the recall work. Everyone there was incredibly courteous and helpful. Then I took it in again last month to have them check the audio issue again (I installed a used audio module) and it was the same story - couldn't get it to communicate. But again, a superb car wash and no bill. Best part was that during this visit I also finally turned in my $851 fuel flange repair bill from when I had an independent shop repair it way back in September 2021 and about a week later I got a check for the full amount from JLR. So I'm up 2 car washes and $851. Told my wife I think I need another diagnostic/car wash visit next month.

Glad to hear they gave you the whole amount. What about the audio system? You guys jinxed me and now my favorite LR2 has a blank screen and no audio

LOL, sorry about that! I still haven't dove back into my dashboard and the audio issues.

I’ve been to seven different dealerships in the last two years, the only one I wouldn’t go back to is Scottsdale JLR.

I got a little side tracked too. One of my boys broke the shit out of his ankle. I had to go collect him from Iowa for surgery tomorrow morning. I’ll still take that ‘11 apart and verify where that most ring starts.
