Little tougher to come up with a design I liked aesthetically, give the protection and tow strength I wanted, and still offered the performance (exit angle limited by hitch assy, not bumper).

Top tube is 2"x.188" DOM, Bottom tube is 1.75"x.188" DOM.
Lugs are 1.125" thick plate
Lights are LEDs.

That was actually to protect the rear quarters.
I kept things very tight; about 1/8" between the side wings and the fender.
I needed to be sure those wings wouldn't move.

They won't ;)

The reason I mentioned it as I think it is good, adding 2 more contact point attaching the edge of the bumper to the frame as they are less likely to be bended inwards causing damages to muffler, tank, etc if you hit something or I should say somebody hit you. It can also act as a glider over some rocks for the area after the rear wheels.

How difficult was it to get the diamond (top) plate that close to the bottom of the door? Looks very snug.

Removed the plastic cover and it fit right in.

I used 3/16 thick alum diamond plate which is way overkill but I had it around and it fit.
1/16" would probably be fine and much easier to work with.
It would also give another 1/8" of clearance

Yeah, that would be my only worry. I know with the RTE it's about the same as stock and when enough ice forms there it can be a bit of a pain to get open.

Looks like a work of art though! and the best kind, functional art!

I love this bumper. Very nicely done and I especially like the recessed lighting. Where did you source the lights?

Wish I had some welding prowess, plus a welder, plus a bender, plus . . .

is it my eyes or does this stick out further than stock, out past the trailer hitch? Looks like the departure angle worse.

Ribbit
The receiver is just below the bottom tube and extends out past it. The top tube is 4" higher and about 2" farther back than the bottom tube putting it just slightly past the receiver but far higher.
The hitch will hit way before the bumper will.
The solid flat surface on top makes it look longer.
