The Lou!
Haven't posted a while in technical since it's still a nightmare with my truck. After I put the new synchro in and got it running I drove it to work only 2 miles away, my first "real" drive since fixing it. By the end of the 2nd mile things weren't quite so pleasant. Did some timing adjustments on lunch, then hopped in for the 2 mile trip back home. I barely fricken made it. Backfiring through the exhaust, backfiring through the carb, losing power and forcing a downshift just to get it to 20mph, just drove like absolute shit and barely made it home. I half thought the thing was gonna catch fire. Felt like bad timing, fuel starvation, and a manifold leak all together.

What I think part of the problem is, is when I was reinstalling the downpipe after getting the trans back in I spun a stud, so I had to take the whole damn manifold off to machine a new one back in. When I took the manifold off I felt pretty sure I stripped (or even broke off the tip of one of the bolts) but tried to overlook it and slapped everything back together. So I'll bet I've got a manifold leak from that.

I'm a slow worker so it looks like I'm still gonna be down a while and will have missed yet a 3rd British Car Show. :(

Just wanted to vent is all, thanks for listening to my pity party.

Jen,

If it makes you feel better, this is the current state of my SIII.

I have to have this thing re-wired, frame patched, back together and painted by Nov. 5th.

If I bring the Doritos, can I come to the pity party?
