Old OEM Alpine deck died. Picked up a new Kenwood deck and the Metra 70-1784 connector.

OEM is the Alpine deck with CD changer and what looks like an amp under the drivers seat.

Got it all wired up, but no sound. Have power to deck, but wondering if i have to add a wire to power the amp. On the C0098 outlet from the OEM radio there is a connection called "System Enable" - Pin 5

Does anyone know if this is the power "on" connection for the amp via the oem radio?

I guess this is called the High Line System in the SE7.

Also if this is an Amp under the seat (non Harmon Kardon), should I be using the Harmon Kardon version Metra connector instead with the RCA outputs from the radio?

I do recall the on Kenwood units that the light blue wire is for the amp. If you could connect that wire to the trucks power amp you may be good to go.

On my 2000 when I installed an aftermarket radio, the adapter I got from Crutchfield had the antenna and amp wires reversed. The antenna wire was actually the output to turn the amp on. I advised them of this but I don't know if they ever corrected it.

Good point rovercan!
If memory serves me the dark blue is antenna, while the light blue is amp.

Yes the blue w/white is the power control wire for an amp, etc from the Kenwood deck... But I dont see a Amp Power connection (not labeled that way on the rover side)... I'm guessing that its the pin 5 "system enable" but dont need to start shorting things just yet.

Sorry I cannot help beyond that as the built in amp was removed from my truck before I got it.

Update - Got it working.

On The C0098 plug from the OEM radio connection called "System Enable" - Pin 5 - This is the Amp "power on". I used the Power control (Blue/White) wire from the deck to connect to this and that turned on the amp.

I have no idea if the High Line system that is in this D2 is basically a Harmon Kardon system without the HK lables or not. Or if the speaker outputs from the OEM radio are Line-Outs or Powered outs. I'm using the Powered outs from my new deck - so we will see if the amp dies from to much input.

Seems like the Harmon Kardon Metra Connector might work as it has the power control wire already installed.

And in addition - As I ordered the Metra harness from Crutchfield, I called to let them know for future reference. The tech guy thinks that since I have the high line amp that i should be using the Metra #1786 Harmon Kardon wire harness, so he sent it to me no charge, So i'll give it a try. It is pretty damn loud on volume 3, so I bet thats the adapter I need.

Now that is fine customer service. Will be buying from them again.
