LOL-I quoted on a 2.8 TGV install earlier this morning. For a moment, I thought I was gonna need an AED to revive the young man I was speaking with.

LOL - Around 10 to 15K is what I was told. My 4.6 still running strong after 138K, if it goes though my plan is to take mine down and let them do the swap. I don't think that's bad considering the cost of replacing mine with something late model or new. LR3s are nice but don't like em as much as I like my D2. And plus the fact I just did my headliner!

$15K is a steal for an indestructible all-aluminum classic Landrover than gets 28MPG.
28MPG is a number one can frequently see in UK LR magazines.
Gallons are Imperial, traffic crawls at 50mph, and I strongly suspect that "miles" in that MPG quote are kilometers...

My father used to get 31 mpg (the 4.54 litre gallon - not the 3.78 litre gallon) in his '98 on a frequent basis - but that was on very 'road oriented' tires and accelerating in a way that would definately be frowned upon in America unless you lived in priusville...

When I last borrowed his disco, I got a much more realistic 26mpg (again, the 4.54 litre gallon) which wasn't driving like a grandma, but equally wasn't driving liwith the pedal pushed hard to the floor...

That translates into 21 mpg, which I can believe in, given 14.5-15 mpg that could be had from a stock D1 under reasonable driving.

I need to revise my driving habits. Passing german rockets in the inside on-ramp lane drives my tachometer past 4K and gas mileage under 13...
