I will own up to having a set. Bought them on the cheap at the URE auction a few years ago, have not seen enough mud to try them yet. Ray and John did a comparison of them some time back and the really cheap ones were essentially a one use solution as they did not hold up.

Been seeing a bunch of D2 ads lately with the statement "Truck doesn't run" but still demanding "bring an idiot and his credit card" truck prices.
Or my favorite, "Just needs a blah to run."
No, it's fucked and you don't know how to fix it.

You’re not the only one to notice that.

Yea man, trucks you could barely give away a few years ago are now being sold for $6-8k. Crazy.

I don’t think Disco2 is seeing the same spike in price. Everybody seems to know it’s a POS
Actually they are according to the people selling them. One guy selling a D1 5 speed, (half way through the project) is claiming he sold a restored D2 on BAT for $27k.

Sorry man, I was just making sure you're still listening. Yes it's crazy on all of them. 15 years ago it would take about 8 grand to buy one and go thru it and make it good enough to send as my wife's daily driver. I bought a 99 SD when it was 10 years old and had 117K on it. I pulled the trans to replace the rear main, cross seals and cam bore plug. sealed the t case while it was out, replaced the trans cooler pipes and oil cooler pipes, rebuilt the front swivel housings, new pistons in all the calipers and all pads and rotors replaced, old man emu springs and Bilstein shocks, and a new set of BF Goodrich commercial TA traction tires. That was a great truck but I couldn't get 11 grand for it. I had $8400 in it. Now I would ask 20 if I had that same truck fresh built like that today.

I'm building one now that I plan to sell. It makes that other truck look like a piece of shit. I'm afraid to take it to Bring a Trailer and get screwed with no reserve on an auction.

Well, just because that is what they say they are selling them for doesn't mean I believe them.
I had a chance at a 2003 for $600 a couple of months ago. I should have taken it because the seller was describing the classic CPS no start issue.

I'm about 5 grand deep in parts on a "just needs a fuel pump" truck. If I counted my time I'd be asking something crazy for it too.

That was me about 6 or 7 months ago. Found a 95(?) DI not running in SC for $650. Sat around thinking about it before I decided WTF. Emailed the guy and it was gone. I console myself by telling myself it was probably rusted out but man I fucked that up.

values are all over the place, but one thing is for sure... the days of a $1000 runner are long gone. If you find a rust free one, scoop it and flip it.

I wonder if the seller of this D2 is on Discoweb - this is awesome:

Truck is in good shape overall and drives well. Previous owner maintained it well and I have attempted to do the same. Sunroofs have been sealed and rhino-lined over.

"Land Rover" and "sunroof" are 3 words that should never go together. Sealing them and rhino-lining over them, as hillbilly-redneck as it is, is an improvement.
