Long Weekend Project - Swivels

I've got a 4 day weekend and intend to use it.

I've had a lot of issues lately getting over 55mph w/o a little wobble (or a lot after a rough patch of road). This summer new RTE HD steering components were installed, new TRE's and new damper.

I noticed some leaking around the swivel seals recently and have ordered new seals. I intend to replace the seals, re-fill swivel, adjust pre-load (likely my issue), drain/fill diffs and replace brake pads/caliper hardware since i'll be in there.

I also have a bit of leaking around the valve cover gaskets but i think i may be able to get away with just tightening them down (i've got new gaskets if needed though).

Anyone have any wisdom or knowledge to share on the swivel seal replacement? i've had them apart before and this repair is pretty straight forward. I do need to find out if local LR dealer has any one shot in stock. if not, what do you guys prefer?

I have had good success with the one-shot, but in my research for this job I found there was no consensus over what kind of lubrication to use in swivels. I bought the entire swivel rebuild kit from AB or somewhere and replaced the pins as well. Also did the CV shaft bearings while I had the whole thing apart, as well as the hubs.

The advantage to gear oil is that you can drain it and refill it easier. The reason you would want to do that is if you end up axle deep in water with a hot axle it will pull water into the housing as it gets cooler by the water. But it's gonna leak a lot if everything isn't perfect

Depends on what year D1 you have. Earlier D1's have drains on the swivel ball assemblies vs later D1's that do not have drains. I prefer the one shot stuff and I'm pretty sure later D1's without drains came with that from the factory. If you have an earlier D1 with drains then yeah 80/90w would probably be best.
