Finally getting around to buying a front bumper for my LR4

Here are the options I have found:

ARB
$2164

Proud Rhino
$1988

Tactical 4X4
$1820

Any others out there that I should consider?

I think I'll go Proud Rhino. The ARB is kind of blah and they recently went up in price. The Tactical 4X4 looks a little too locomotive cow pusher for my tastes.

I normally don’t like ARB but I think they nailed the look for the Lr4. I drive past my indie shop everyday and the owner has a green 2011 LR4 on 33s with the ARB and it just looks so damn good. Proud rhino would be second for me. I wouldn’t get the tactical 4x4 just based on looks alone.

The LR3/4s look so boss with the ARB bumpers. I think you can find it under $2k if you look around.. MLO or somewhere like 4wheelparts. They just get drop shipped anyway.

Does anyone have personal experience with the Lucky 8 CFE ("cost friendly edition") bumpers?

Lucky 8 CFE

I reached out to Lucky 8 about the Proud Rhino availability and they sent me the link above as an option.

According to Lucky 8, the Proud Rhino is "is a much higher quality thicker steel, stronger built bumper" compared to the CFE.

Can anyone comment on the overall quality, durability, strength, etc. of the CFE? The CFE & Terrafirma A12000 winch is a sweet deal at $1498 shipped. I'm a bit concerned about the CFE front recovery tabs - looks to be steel triangles welded onto the face of the bumper. I'd prefer a good anchor point and backing plate bolted through the bumper face like I had on my D2 - EE anchor & backing plate.

I'm sure the Proud Rhino is a great bumper, but is it worth an extra grand?

I'll winch maybe once a year and I won't be bouncing the bumper off the rocks. I want an improved approach angle and solid anchors for pulling, straight-line winching, winching with a snatch block, etc. I don't do all-day winch-fests up rockpiles....the winch is just to get me unstuck when I inevitably go where I shouldn't have. I'm also going to add skid plates up front.

Did you check to see if they’re welded through? Typically those are welded outside and pass through the bumper surface and welded on the backside too

I don't see any towing bills.
BTW, LR Scottsdale turned out just as shitty as LR Miramar in San Diego, for me at least.
At least I was able to convince the SM that the tech was lying, so whatever broke was eventually fixed.

When you did the coolant manifolds/crossover pipes and water pump... was anything leaking or was it all preventative maintenance?

It was leaking…..hence the coolant purchase at LR Scottsdale a few days before! I knew damn well it would have to be done in the first year of ownership given the age and mileage of the truck.

Nope, no towing.

I would take this truck to the junkyard before I took it to the dealership.

I should knock on wood, but the only failure on mine since I got it last October has been the tailgate actuator. I replaced it and the cable for $105 from AutohausAZ.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I can’t believe there isn’t a latch back there straight from the factory. First time I slept back there I woke up to piss at about 3:00 AM and of course there’s no way out. So I go to open the rear passenger door and I can’t because the child locks are engaged on both doors. Just about pissed myself trying to get out the front passenger door.
