Well my problem was indeed the leaking fuel tank flange that will be the subject of the upcoming recall. $851 from my local independent Rover shop. I also blew $60 on an over-priced fuel cap from the local LR dealer. Picked the LR4 up from the shop this afternoon. Drove it 50 miles this afternoon and another 50 miles this evening to set and then pick up an 8-hour air sampling canister. When I got back in my truck to leave the jobsite at midnight, on comes the yellow warning triangle with an admonition to check my fuel cap. Whatever, you fucker. Then when I'm pulling into my neighborhood about 20 minutes later the steering is obviously all fucked up....cue the moans and groans from the power steering pump as I drive another 1,000 feet to my house. Pull into my driveway, shut it down, grab a flashlight, fluid dripping out from all over under the front, driver's wheel is coated on the inside. Pop the hood, not much to see other than smoking power steering fluid. Damn, I wish Toyota made a vehicle I like.
