I was wondering if anyone knows of a good fabricator in North Carolina? I am hoping to have something like the Equipe bumper put together but am reluctant to come off $2000+. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Couldn't agree more. A great guy. Not exactly local to you but he does great work.
Here's my new front bumper sans pre-runner bar. He's also making me a rear bumper and swing away tire carrier.

Then you're gonna drop your old bumper off here at my place right?

My poor rear quarter panels are all bent out of shape, bumpers smashed in, waiting for an upgrade!

Those roxstar bumpers are junk.

lol oh god here we go again..

I'm not a huge fan of tube style bumpers anymore, I was at one point - I do actually like Dennys bumpers best out of all designs and his shit is build to last.

i wouldn't say they are junk. they are different.

my concern would be strength. when justin yanked my truck into a tree, we had to be going about 50mph (thats what i figure based on his silly ass absolutly floored and me absolutely floored) and the only damage was the bumper bending in about 2 inches.

in the same scenario, I'm thinking that tube bumper would have melted and ripped the entire driver side off, including the radiator. i don't see the need for an ultra high clearance tube style bumper, but it is an option. personally, i prefer 1/4" plates boxed with 1/4" plates, fully boxed on the frame. if that tubing is DOM, plated, and boxed on the frame ears then i wouldn't question the strength so much.

from an aesthetic point of view, tube anything does not belong on any rover.

I am hoping to keep my front end weight down as much as possible and figured that the tube would be much lighter than some of the alternatives. Personally I like the look of the ARB or even the Terrafirma and some of the tube styles. I don't do any crazy crawling so I dont need a ridiculous amount of clearance. What do you guys think would provide the best balance of protection, clearance, and weight?

Why do you care about it being heavy? I have a safari gard minus the brush bar and it is pretty light it's like this http://www.rte-fab.com/products?page=shop.product_details&flypage=yagendoo_VaMazing_zoom1.tpl&product_id=156&category_id=20 it's pretty light comepared to full brush guard style, clearence is great and it's a solid bumper.

at the end of the day it's your truck, you're gonna pick what you think is best. I think the tub style leaves the rover looking too bare which is why I love the HLC bumper with the A bar seen on the red truck on this site http://www.hlcfab.com/products.php

Just like anything else.. Its all in how much money you want to spend.. you can spend $450 all the way up to $1800.

For me a front bumper's main purpose is to house a winch and provide solid front recovery points. It also improved my approach angle of the stock one. I bought my RockStar bumper because I liked its minimalist design. It's clean and simple and doesn't weigh 200 lbs. It doesn't need to be head-on-collision-into-a-tree proof. Though I'm sure it would hold up fine so long as I wasn't doing 50mph.
People talk shit and say tube bumpers don't belong on Land Rovers, what a joke. Like 37" tires and coilovers DO belong on Land Rovers.
Bottom line is all the options mentioned here are good. Do what you want, its your truck.

I sold my Terrafirma and bought an Equipe. The TF was nice but I wanted more upfront protection. The TF was flush with the headlights and grille. The Equipe sticks out a good 3'' past the grille and headlights. As far as strength the Equipe is pretty beefy. Its got about the best approach angle out there. As far as it being a "tube" bumper, call it whatever you want.IMO its one of the best bumpers out there.

When I was looking into a front bumper for my D2, Denny had my vote. Just look at Luke's truck and you might just start to drool. Nothing against the RTE stuff, but I prefer a BEEFY bumper. HLC makes top notch stuff. No idea what the lead time is though.
