I have 95 D1 and a few days ago as I was driving home I lost all braking...pedal pushed straight to floor. After using the handbrake and pumping like mad, brake pressure returned but off and on until I got home it would still push down to the floor!
For the last yr or so, in various off roading trips I have lost the braking pressure but it would always come back. It’s very intermittent-not consistent. Today as I was checking it out and pumping the brake pedal there is a sound like a clunk below the shifter. Are these related? brake MC going out? See video for sound
Thanks in advance.

Can’t upload video says the file does not have a valid extension. Don’t know what that means.

MC or (less likely) valves in the ABS valve block. That is assuming you've checked the wheel calipers for leaks and haven't found any.

i will be checking the calipers hopefully today. Any thoughts on the clunking. Lise under the shifter when I depress the brake pedal?
