Loud high pitch beeping, like a smoke detector going off.
Owned the truck for ~3yrs now. My brother owned it before that.
On the way home from work today there was this extremely loud high pitch beeping in the truck. I pulled over but couldn't find the source. I cycled my Kenwood stereo from Tuner to Cd and then Standby. The beeping stopped and seemed to coincide with me putting the stereo on Standby.
I put the stereo back on Tuner and started to drive. I get the loud beeping again. Cycle the stereo to Standby and beeping continues. Then it just stops.

Has anybody experienced this on their D1? Would it be a truck issue? Maybe a stereo issue?

Headlights left on make it beep. So does CDL in neutral

I bet someone butchered the illumination wiring to the radio

Would you by chance have a satellite signal or traffic monitor connected to your Kenwood stereo?

It sorta sounds like one of those "Amber Alerts" that sometimes are sent to my phone. But it doesn't make sense for it to be in the car stereo unless there is some sort of connection or the head unit has some sort of unique capability with which I am not familiar. Just a wild guess.

My old '96 would do what the o.p. describes. A very loud, constant beep/buzz, like a warning. It would do it intermittently and I could never could connect it to anything in particular. I just ignored it as it wouldn't last long.

I had that same issue it turns out it was my power inverter warning me that it had over voltage 14.8 volts. so I just pulled the fuse on it for now and no more noise. I will deal with it later.

So I think Im having this same issue. I pulled out the fuel pump and fuel injector fuses and did a compression test (everything looks good there). Had apparently left the keys in on position because as soon as I started to insert the fuel injector fuse, i could hear it clicking. I stopped and went and turned off the ignition. I then put all fuses back and started the car up. My ultragauge votalge reading was all over the place, 13.9 to 15v which its never done before. I turned it off and then started again and when I do this, you hear the normal beeps and then a long continuous one like the CDL sound.

I turned it off, disconnected the battery and left it for about 5 minutes and reconnected. Tried to start the car but couldnt but I can hear the fuel pump (thought I did but if the alt fuse was out, then i suspect that wasnt turning on either) and starter turn over. My ultragauge and stereo do not power up either.

Have I fried something in my ECU or is something else going on?

EDIT : found 1 issue…my ALT fuse is blown. Heading to store to get replacement.

EDIT 2: it was the ALT fuse. All fixed.
